We were already under the cap, what is the point of replacing Ware with Peppers?

I'd rather take that cap money and address depth like we have been doing and then use the first few rounds to get DLine. 4th round goes to best CB. Then the 5th round get QB depth if Murray or McCarron are there. Go cheaper and likely no worse than aging vets who are going to just run out the clock while cashing checks.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have no confidence in this franchise to find anything after the first three rounds. Like really, what has Dallas ever gotten right after Round 3 in recent memory? The lack of finding anything after Round 3 is the reason why this team lacks so much talent. Don't understand how we can find so many undrafted gems but can't find gems in the late rounds of a draft.

I'm trying to figure out if the 2015 dead money is correct. I think it goes up by $7.5M since he is on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2014 year. But ignoring that because I don't really know...before you say we can cut Romo. It may be $2.7M less than his 2015 cap hit currently shows, but it would be $28M in dead money. I don't see any way that when the time comes we will be willing to or able to to do that.

No .... Im talking straight cut before June first of 2015 ... we would save 2.7 million and carry no dead money into2016

Same way we just did Ware

WOW.
The release of D Ware has some of you cap experts thinking ALL OUTTA WACK.

No way Romo is dusted in the next 12 months unless major/major injury and I wouldn't double down then neither.

Oh I didn't say dusted .... I said we could cut...... And I think Romo's future Garrett's future and a few others all depend on this season

sure we COULD, many things COULD happen after this season

nothing has chanced here and jerry ain't rebuilding....least in my opinion
jerry is reshuffling. Jerry has zero time for this rebuilding thought process some of you seem to think since Ware

you didnt read all of what I said ..... I said depends on what Jerry does

At this point though ... just depth guys .... no big splash .... looking like it's a draft year ( which Im all good with)

8-8 again though ..... you cant expect he will resign Garrett

Which with how Jerry works .... it will be time to bring in another coach like Parcels and step back (MAYBE for 2 years) Is gonna want some cap space to work with

Jerry is riding the Romo wave for minimum 3 years.
This was posted by many here the night Romo signed his new deal and really nothing has changed

Yeah I know what you meant, but we would have $28M in dead money in 2015 if we did that...and maybe $7.5M more if what I am seeing on that portion of his 2015 contract being guaranteed now. Plus we would need a QB. Just don't see anyway we go that route

Agree with this and this time it may be even harder for Garrett to get to that number unless we really hit on our draft picks. I still think it may have been better to move on this year. Another coaching overhaul, but the top guy went unscathed and wasn't held responsible. Lets hope it works out for the best.

our defense as it exist right now will be worse than last year and last year's defense couldn't stop a high school team. i see us as at best a 5 win team next year

I'm not sure how you can make that statement considering the injuries the D had.

so fitting.

You don't know jack about next years defense sitting here today.
I'll bet you right now the defense next year is better in 90% of all statistics than last years.

it's what he's known for
it's what he do..........the glass is always half empty

If we can find a replacement for Hatcher and an injured Ware and cut the injuries to the rest of the D in half the defense is better.

It's not like we have to replace a great Ware. Hatcher is the key player we have to find a replacement for. What if Spencer doesn't get the big payday he's hoping for and decides to resign with Dallas. He very well could be the 2013 Ware replacement.

the same can be said about you. you know jack about what this team will look like. right now our defensive line is Selvie, Hayden, McClain and Mincey all 4 are nothing more than backups on 25-27 of the other teams in the league. but you still believe that JJ is going to somehow or other bring in a couple of stud FA's and is going to nail down things with a killer draft. how is he going to do that? by restructuring every player he hasn't already restructured or by convincing those stud FA's to take bread crumbs compared to what other teams can offer.

stop living in a dreamworld. maybe JJ finally sees things as they are and has a plan to, dare i say it, rebuild this team . now this might take a couple of years and fans might have to face a 4-12 or 5-11 season over those couple of years but that would be better than playing this endless game of restructuring contracts every year that buries us at the bottom of the league in cap space every year. even with the projected jumps we will still be at the bottom in reference to cap space next year.
