Say a player in the HoF was convicted of 1st degree murder, r*pe or child ******ation.

Would the HoF kick him out?

I know that with regard to OJ, the HoF said that he's still in for what he did on the football field. Still, he was acquitted in that. One has to wonder if he'd still be there had he been convicted.

I think it would be hard to keep someone in the HoF if they'd been ******ing kids, killed someone or raped a woman.

If they committed a truly heinous crime then yes I think there bust and record should be wiped from the Archives. I dont give a shit what kind of player they were they do not deserve the honor and privilege of being a HOF'er. Now if they got pulled over with some blow and a hooker and had to do a little jail time and some community service I would let them stay in.

Doubt it. Their stance is that HOF status is based purely on on-field accomplishments.

Well LT has had some major off field issues yet his status is fine so I think it would take something out right horrendous to lose their place

OJ deserves it for committing a double homicide, but since he was only found guilty in civil court, they didn't remove him.

I understand the HOF keeping it about "what they did on the field", but I think if you commit those 1st degree crimes the OP listed, you should be kicked out, especially O.J.

:agree: I'm with you here Bloodtype49, especially the part I bolded. I have a real problem with those who think that something great atones for heinous acts. I also don't believe that it is a players "right" to be allowed to stay once elected if they do something that undermines the HOF or society's moral code. Now, there obviously are some minor offenses that could be over-looked but the acts that were mentioned need to be made accountable for.

Well it is the hall of "fame" and is there anyone more famous in it than OJ ? I honestly don't care one way or the other, though.

don't think you will ever see someones name taken out of the HOF.
Now I am sure if he isn't in yet & had a HOF career they could keep him out, but if he is already in. Don't believe you will ever see someone taken out.

Even though it is easy for any of us to mention some crazy crap & say the decision to remove him is an easy one. That would start a slippery slope. Then eventually there would be excuses why to remove someone for less & less things over time. it is about the production of that sport. Not being a good person. Once you add judgements of who people are into whether they should stay in. It eventually will be come hey so & so was doing 140 mph down a rural road. He needs to go. Yes that is an over exaggeration trying to make the point clear.

Now they may put that guy in a dark corner of the HOF or something. But doubt they would go that political with it.
Maybe put a Hall of shame section of the Hall of fame

Id put money on the fact NOBODY will be tossed in my lifetime. Wouldn't jive with the NFLs goal of having 20,000 HOFers.
