Not a big deal people. No doubt Lebron goes down as one of the greats. The irony is that the same people defending Lebron's comments would be eviscerating Kobe for saying something similar. You know it's true. This just goes with the constant scrutiny when you are on top of the league. Where's the line between confidence and cockiness?

Someone questioned Wilt's basketball IQ earlier in comparison to Lebron? :L

That would have been an artful deflection I guess, but honestly I'm getting sick of athletes having to give fake, deflecting, empty, bullshit, non-answsers to avoid the idiotic criticism that will follow any real answer.

I understand about the "canned answers", but there's nothing wrong with a little humility. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I already know that Lebron is a great player and will be in the GOAT discussion when he retires. I don't need him to tell me.

Part of the blame lies with the media. They ask these players a stupid question like that and when they answer as Lebron did, they get ripped by some for their ego.

If they answer like I suggested, then they get ripped for giving a "canned answer".

If they say they don't belong with those guys, then they get ripped for fake humility.

At least with the "I hope to be in that discussion" type of answer, he acknowledges what we all already know without coming off as being egotistical.

Id rather LeBron not talk about how great he is but about who is his real father and how he is going to help out his mom who has drug issues. Priorities LeBron get them straight.

When it's all said & done LeFraud will be lucky to even make top 50 of all time, let alone top 10.

Maybe Bball IQ was the wrong term but LBJ has shown that winning is the most important thing and every thing I have heard about Wilt is that his stat's were number 1. So either he thought stats won rings or he didn't care about winning rings. Call it what you want, not sure there is a name for it.

Also, Kobe gets a pass on a WHOLE LOT OF SHIT he has done, said and been accused of.

Kobe doesn't get a free pass on anything. Don't know where you've been his whole career. He's been subject to just as much criticism as Lebron over their careers.

I find it ironic that a lot of people that bash on Lebron for talking also LOVE themselves some MJ. That guy was the biggest self promoter to ever play the game. At this point in their respective careers no sane person can argue Lebron isnt a better player than MJ was. Now that isnt to say he will end up that way but at the age that Lebron currently is his game puts MJs to shame.

That's just wacko talk there, I mean complete and utter bullshit.

Honestly, when talking about superstars miscues, you still hear the TV media (not message boards) still chop LeBron down because of the Decison. But never hear about Kobe going to the media and demanding to be traded because didn't have the talent around him like he was used to or throwing teammates under the bus etc..

And when did Kobe ever get a free pass for doing anything like you mentioned? Whether the media still talks about "the decision" or not doesn't change the fact that Kobe has been criticized plenty throughout his career. Weak deflection. I don't think you agree with Bot.

I don't see a good reason for the media's chopping Lebron for the "Decision."

He has the right to sign with whoever he wants. It's still a free country, right?

I don't think anyone is forgetting that he was asked a question, I think they are questioning how he answered it.

How about a simple: "It would be an honor to have my name up there with the all-time greats." or "I hope that I will be considered to be part of that group."?

I think everyone is missing the point really. I think this comment is more motivation than anything. With Wade being out and KD getting all this exposure, this puts the spotlight back on him (what he really wants). But to answer, yes he still thinks he is a top 4 player eventually, but that is expected. But I see your point, but MJ would of said the same thing if not even more.

That's one of the very few things you guys will ever read from me that supports Lebron. So cherish it forever! :laugh3:

Of course you would. To an objective person it's an asshole comment. His father abandoned him, so why the hell should Lebron care about him?

Not saying he should. He should, however, perhaps be more concerned about his mother's problems?
