Some sad news to pass on - RIP Bossman

Not sure if you have heard, but Bossman (Steve Krol) passed away a few days ago. This is an entry from his facebook page from a family member:

This is to all Steve / Carl / Bossman's friends. Bossman passed away this weekend in his home in his beloved city of Buffalo,NY. He thought the world of all his internet friends. Brian, Lee, and I thank you for all your kind thoughts. Cindy

I know that Steve had been battling several ailments over the last few years, but he seemed to be fairing a bit better as of late. He certainly loved his Bills and Sabres and he contributed a great deal to this board both from a posting and moderating perspective. We exchanged some good laughs over the phone and it's too bad I didn't get to share a beer with him in person. Steve, you will be missed.

Oh my! That is just awful! Steve had reached out to me when I was going through chemo and other rough times. He was such a good hearted guy and I am just floored right now. I knew he had medical issues but didn't see this coming. Damn. I feel just awful. My heart is heavy.

I was very fortunate to talk to him outside the SportsHoopla and have him on my facebook while we didnt meet ever in person I considered him a friend Ill truly miss him and will think of him often. Im sorry Boss your Sabres never got you that Cup.

I talked to him on the phone just a couple of weeks ago and he seemed as healthy and chipper as ever. This is a sickening punch in the gut. Steve, you were a rare breed, and the world is worse off now without you.

Don't forget to tell all the angels, "Get off my cloud!" (but not the cute ones)

I haven't been around on here for a long while but I loved his passion for the Sabres - it was great talking to him in the time I was here, about hockey in general

He will be missed by everyone

Also, I believe Steve's sister got married on Jan 15 so hopefully with the holidays and the wedding, he was able to be around all of his family recently and they with him. He will be missed very much. He was so caring when I was in a bad place I just cant begin to describe how much I appreciate his concern. I wish I had opened up to him even more and could have return the favor somehow.
