Really????????? They are both Horrible cover guys, no scheme on the planet will change that.

really stymie ? really ? both Rak and kerrigan rushed the passer less then their peers . the top 3/4 OLB pass rushers in the NFL at worst rushed the passer 467 times . rak had 363 and kerrigan wasnt that much more and probably less.

you dont pay top OLBs in the 3-4 to make their living in coverage you pay them to get to the qb

kerrigan and Rak were asked to set the edge and go into coverage before one or both were sent to rush the qb

most 3/4 's dont operate that way hence you put him in a more aggressive 3/4 scheme

so lets recap here the 3/4 scheme we run doesnt play to rak and kerrigans strengths

both rak and kerrigan have made pro bowls as OLBs in the 3/4 so how bad are they ?

neither has played de as a pro in any 4-3 scheme or any scheme

rak's best season he was a 4-3 OLB

Rak weighs 257 lbs . kerrigan weighs 260 . both at DE in a 4-3 would make our edge very light in the run game . i cant see how you can live with both at de or how they could carry 20 to 25 lbs more and be effective
i think they will lose that 1st step and quickness at those weights

so one of those guys will be a 4-3 olb if we keep both and go to the 4-3 which the new HC has said we wont do . now we could see some hybrid stuff but we wont see that as our base defense

Based on Maske's data, Rak will probably get 8-9m per year for 4-5 years. Good deal for both, I think.

There are a couple of issues with your response.........

The QB won't always drop back to pass, there are run plays as well as screens in the game, what's your answer to having a 257 and a 260 pound guy go against the oppositions run game anyway?

Who is the DC on this team currently? I could be wrong but isn't it the same guy who's been in that position when they were asked to set the edge prior to rushing the QB?....How did....will that work out?
