Pretty sure 130 M in Texas > New York

Which if you approximate at about 8.5ish% NY/NYC combined income tax, probably shouldn't make much of a difference in the grand scheme in the contract (a difference of about $3-5 million tops over the life of the deal).

Say the next closest offer for Boras was $100 million instead of the $140M the Yankees offered, does Boras go back to the Yankees and admit he made a bad move turning them down, or does he take the $100M? I think a good part of it may have been that he doesn't wanna go back and admit he made a bad decision (which could then give the Yankees leverage).

Well I stand corrected that he wouldn't get close to that Yankees offer. Texas should be fun to watch.

As an Oklahoma native I'm not thrilled by him going to a Wrong Side Of The Red River team, but better there than the Sinstripes.

the cost of living in NY over about anywhere in Texas is another factor...that could put this at a better value deal.

Ridiculous amount of money being thrown around. Do people think he will succeed in Texas or fall on his face?

He'll succeed in Texas - especially with the guys around him... As long as he stays healthly, he should be able to average 15-20 HR, 60-70 RBI, 70-80 Runs, 10-20 SB and he should maintain his OPS around .800. Is that worth $18m per year? Who knows?

The only thing that irks me is that Texas probably could have gotten him for less. By most indications, all other teams had dropped out... But, who knows....

I think he's a good fit in that lineup, especially with Kinsler gone. Andrus leading off, Choo hitting in the two-hole? Could be very nice. I just think they really overpaid for him.
