I'm not using 'season stats' or whatever you are saying. I am just stating the obvious. The NFL is a passing league and has been for quite some time.

You are the one who said the way to win in the NFL is with a stout defense and a solid running game. I named you the one team who relied on a stout defense and solid running game in the past 13 years.

Wrong. The Steelers and Pats both had some great defenses. And the Packers, Colts and Giants all really stepped up and held opponents down the stretch. Particularly the Giants and Colts. That's 9 SB teams that won SBs with great defensive play (not even mentioning the Ravens and Bucs). Great QB play too, but I'm not here to dismiss that the way you are trying to dismiss defensive play.

Also I've always felt that the Steelers, Giants and Ravens tried to build their teams that way.

I would like some names of the north o-lineman. Want to see who the hell is going to stop the west front 7 from murdering the QBs.

Ohh and Calvin Johnson has never scored a receiving TD on the 49ers And that's in 4 games I believe. I don't believe he has against the Hawks either. And we get to combine all four teams?

Right with Aaron Rodgers throwing to him and Alshon Jeffery & Marshall running patterns at the same time with Bush or Forte as a check down and AP standing next to him.... and NFCN OLs rank higher statistically than NFCW OLs... by quite a bit ftm. So stop pretending that you need names like you guys have a clue above evaluating the individual merits of OL-men.

Im still confused where the Greg Olsen thing is coming in, he is in the NFC South so for what its worth he is irrelevant. He actually wouldn't have mattered if he was there but, thats where I got distracted.

Still wondering if that NFC East guy still thinks a super team with Romo as QB stands any chance against this NFC West defense lol

If today wasn't a good enough of an indicator here's another one to remind you of how clutch Romo is in the highest pressured games

Not only is NFC West 37-19 overall, but they are 28-10 in non-division games: SEA 9-1, SF 6-3, ARIZ 8-2, STL 5-4.

Those teams don't have most talented offenses but its not a coincidence they win games. Throw out whatever receivers you want but if they go up against a defense that will hit them in the mouth its not the same.

Yes stop pretending you need imaginary O-lineman to block the NFC West front 7!!! LMAO

Really?

And if the Rams front 4 can do that to Drew Brees and the Saints, what would the front 7 do to Aaron Rodgers and his "imaginary" Oline. Too funny.

Aaron Rodgers is so good he doesn't need protection! :L

NFC north... Think about it this way, the 3 WR would be Calvin, marshall and jeffery, the RB would be adrian peterson, and the QB would be aaron rodgers... That is too good of an offense, it would be unstoppable...

Yes these guys don't even need an O-line they are so good.

You act like putting 4 team's offensive lines together would produce a completely garbage OL. They might not have the biggest of names but they do still have quality players. Guys like Riley Reiff, Larry Warford, Josh Sitton, and Dominic Raiola have all graded out near the top of their respective positions on the OL. I mean there has to be a reason that of the top 7 pass blocking OL's in the NFL 3 of those came from the NFC North right? I guess we should just ignore the fact that in the NFC West there is not a single team in the top 10 for pass blocking.

No one is arguing that the NFCW has the best defense. In today's NFL though -- the rules in place favor the offense and it isn't even remotely close.

You can't hit the QB about the shoulders, below the knees, or tackle them too hard or you will get flagged.

Any ticky tack touching by a CB is flagged, "hitting a defenseless WR", helmet to helmet, etc. is also flagged. After 5 yards -- you basically can't touch a WR, which is why you see so many QBs throwing for 5000 yards, when it was the holy grail for QBs, not even 10 years ago.

When the NFCN lines up 6'5" Calvin Johnson, 6'4" Brandon Marshall and 6'3" Alshon Jeffrey and they have one of the most accurate QBs in NFL history throwing them the ball (he is actually #2 all-time behind Chad Pennington of all people), it isn't even fair for the defense.

Rodgers could throw jump balls all game long if he wanted to. I have no doubt the NFCW would be able to take one of the WRs out of the game by doubling them, but if they keep both safeties back, Rodgers can just hand the ball off the best RB in football or pick you apart underneath throwing the ball to Forte or Reggie Bush.

If they were to play the game with the old NFL rules, when Ronnie Lott and the like used to play where you could clutch, grab and light players up. I'd actually take the NFCW. In today's NFL -- no chance they could stop all the weapons the NFCN has on the team.

Hell -- if the NFCW had even a halfway decent offense they could put together -- I'd say it would be a coin flip. The NFCW would have arguably the worst offense of any division though in the NFL.

NFC North teams are ranked 4, 5, 8, 20 in yards per carry. NFC West teams are ranked 10, 12, 14, 28.
2013 NFL Team Rushing Stats - National Football League - ESPN

In terms of pass blocking NFC North teams are ranked 2, 3, 13, 26. NFC West teams are ranked 16, 17, 22, 28. In terms of run blocking, NFC North teams are ranked 9, 11, 15, 25. NFC West teams are ranked 5, 12, 23, 30.
This is all according to Football Outsiders, through week 14 of the 2013 season.
FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2013 OFFENSIVE LINES

So it looks like not only does the NFC North have better pass blocking lines than the West, it also has better run blocking lines than the West. If you want a proposed starting 5, here it is.

NFC West went 4-0 yesterday. The defense + running game + KAEP or Wilson seems to be working pretty good right now. Drew Brees couldn't handle the Rams pass rush, but Aaron Rodgers and this "imaginary" Oline could handle the best of the NFC West huh...

And we are still waiting on WHO the O-line is for the NFC North, lining up agaisnt Robert Quinn, Aldon Smith, Kendall Langford, Darnell Dockett with Patrick Willis, Ahmad Brooks, Navarro Bowman, Rich Sherman, Patrick Peterson, Earl Thomas, and Donte Whitner.
LOL PLEASE!!

Real impressive offensive team the NFCNorth would be putting on the field. Forte, Bush and Lacy would round out the backfield well also. Greg Jennings as a 4th receiver... Suh, Fairley, Allen and Peppers would be a nice front four on D too. Dbacks might be lacking in comparison to other divisions but Peanut is a good option atleast.

NFC North is 3-0 so far this week. 4-0 by about midnight. I'll slap the Lions guards, Sims and BigLarry Warford in front of ARodg and company and see what happens. Hell, I'd even be fine if Riley Reif starts at left tackle for this imaginary squad
