Theyre getting better as they get healthier. But they went through à long stretch this year as arguably the worst in the league.

I think they are good, they've just been banged up. I wouldn't mind if that continued.

I was repsonding to another poster who was stating how a QB is the reason the NFCN would beat the NFCW. Posting stats against the teams the NFCN have played this season( and still can't win many games) is not helping your case either. AP is the best RB in the League, Calvin is the best WR. When are you going to address the defense ,ST or OL of the NFCN?

Offensive position players are the only players that contribute to wins. Duh. Dont you play fantasy?

I've found it funny how he or they are only bringing up the offensive side of the ball, which is all they have to hang their hat on.

I'd think all teams would be somewhat even except maybe Jacksonville and Houston since they haven't been around as long

When are you going to address the defense ,ST or OL of the NFCN?

I think you are a little late to the conversation. I've already listed the defense for the NFCN and the NFCW has already listed their offense.

The biggest part of the discussion is based on the NFCW defense and the NFCN offense. It is no question the NFCW defense would be the best any division could put together. In the NFCN, it is no question they have the best skill position players for any division.

NFCW fans think they could shut down the NFCN offense. NFCN fans think there is no chance to stop every weapon on the NFCN team. When you have the past two NFL MVPs at QB and RB, the best WR paired up with two other big WRs you are going to have to single cover, and two of the best receiving RBs in Bush and Forte -- you can't stop them all.

The NFL's new rules favor the offense and when you put elite talent across the board, there isn't much a defense will be able to do when you hand Aaron Rodgers the ball and say have at 'em. You can't double Calvin Johnson AND stack the box to stop AP. It would be a pick your poison effect.

To put it in perspective -- not a single skill position player from the NFCW would even be a starter for the NFCN.

We can talk about the other side of the ball, but the NFCW would have one of the worst offenses of any division. The NFCW strength would be on the defensive side of the ball.

I think Hester would do just fine as the KR/PR. Defense would be

DE: Julius Peppers
DT: Henry Melton
DT: Ndamukong Suh
DE: Jared Allen
OLB: Lance Briggs
MLB: A.J. Hawk
OLB: Clay Matthews
CB: Charles Tillman
FS: Harrison Smith
SS: Morgan Burnett
CB: Chris Houston

Back end isn't great, but the front 7 is going to be near impossible to run on or pass block.

In Seattle, the NFCW has the edge. Anywhere else, give me the NFCN. Imagine this setup. You have Rodgers in a shotgun set. On his left is Adrian Peterson. On his right is Matt Forte. Split left is Calvin Johnson. Split right is Brandon Marshall wide, with Jordy Nelson in the slot. What do you even do on defense? That's a legit question. Because I don't think there is much you can do.

Sam shields at cb over houston, maybe jeremy ross over hester at this point and I'd say fairly over melton. Not a bad D/ST at all. Also as said before the offense is the real killer tho obviously.

Agreed with Shields over Houston. No way Ross over Hester -- I'll take Hester all day every day. I will also take Fairley over Melton.

Hester over Patterson?

Though I wouldn't expect much out of any return guy in this scenario. The coverage teams would be all good defensive starters. And since that would be the case, your return guy would be also be an offensive impact guy: Cobb.

Hester over Patterson?

You can take your pick with the return man in the NFCN and you couldn't go wrong with Cobb, Hester and Patterson.

As you said though -- it wouldn't really matter much, as I'm sure, whoever is the kicker for either team will just be kicking the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs.

Your NFC north LBs are not that good anymore and your secondary would get torched. Briggs? Really? He's on the worst run D in football. AJ Hawk? :laugh3:

Don't get me wrong, the NFC N offense is really good, but a great Defense will always trump a great offense. Especially that NFC West D. Plus the NFC N Oline really isn't all that going up against a great front 7 NFCW = Rodgers is on his back! AP running through that front 4 with Willis, Earl Thomas, Whittner, and other studs at LB?

Please :bullshit:

You are assuming that your joke of an Oline would stand up against a stout front 4 AND Patrick Willis, Aldon Smith, Bowman, earl Thomas, whitner, Sherman, Peterson. And our nickel CB is the honey badger or janoris Jenkins.

You are assuming that Rodgers has time to throw. Lol.

Guess you haven't been watching the NFC West lately.

Definitely somebody else over Houston and Fairley is a beast so agree there, too. I'd still stick with Hester to return kicks. Those 2 Ross returned last week come with an asterisk. In a foot of snow a kick returner has a big advantage, imo.

Calais Campbell, Darnell Dockett, Chris long, Robert Quinn, Kendall Langford, Glenn Dorsey, Michael Brockers on the D-line. That's not even including Seattle's front 4.

I would hate again to see Rodgers and AP get hurt.

Where do you get that an NFC North OL would be a joke much less inferior to an NFC West one ? Because there are no stats that really support that.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2013 OFFENSIVE LINES

Detroit & Chicago are 2 & 3 in pass protection. Minn is 13th. The NFC west's best is AZ at 16. Run blocking the divisions are much closer. Obviously there are other factors and you can't take the rankings as absolutes. There are disparities in certain areas between the 2 divisions but OL isn't one of them. I grant the West would have by far the edge at back 4 D, but your only skill player who could even get on the field for the North's team is Davis and we might just go 3 wide with Megatron, Marshall & Jeffery who are arguably the 3 best the the NFL with Rodgers throwing to them. That's why it would be a great contest. It would be strength on strength. Detroit's Levy for Hawk at LB... Briggs , Levy & Matthews behind Allen, Fairley, Suh & Peppers. The west ain't gonna run on that with what they bring to the table and yeah Wilson would need to bring his running shoes as well.
