I read this earlier, that's too bad. I enjoy Dierdorf in the booth.

Al Michaels and Dan Dierdorf were the best combo on MNF. I'll miss the guy.

You guys are either nuts or living in the past. Dierdorf is terrible and often spews nonsensical garbage throughout the game. Heck, I even remember bitching about him earlier this year during a game because he kept whining about a team using TOs (I think was Eagles/Chargers) even though it was obviously clear that Philly needed to use them in order to get the ball back. He has little clue what's going on anymore and typically just foams over guys he likes. It's apparent he doesn't put in prep work anymore. He use to be fairly good but he's been well past his prime for years now.

Dierdorf originally got run off of the ABC crew, but I thought he was good, and has upped his game since.

He's probably the most heavy-handed guy out there in how he delivers criticism and compliments. It used to annoy me but I've come to find him to be one of the most unintentionally funny commentators.

Your exactly right ...he was over the top on both sides.

I always called him the expert of what just happen 4 seconds ago. He had this way of going over a play in replay ..like he predicted it.

Guess I am alone? I was/am not a fan. He doesn't bug me now as much as he used to though. I won't miss him saying "oh boy" after every big play or incident.

Regardless of if you like or dislike him, he is and always will be an NFL icon.

Enjoy retirement Dan. You deserve it.

I feel Out of place

Not going to miss him much at all as an analyst...he was great at saying the obvious...now as a player, Dierdorf played in the great era of the NFL and was a great player.

I hated listening to him on MNF. I typically didn't watch the CBS games if he was on it (not much of an AFC fan anyways).

I won't miss him one bit, but enjoy retirement. Dierdorf never liked my Hawks, even when we were in the AFC and he routinely would do our games. At least Seattle has been in the NFC for a while now and we only rarely had to endure listening to him for select games. Sort of off topic a bit, but it really seems that the entire CBS lineup is inferior to Fox, which just makes me glad my team is in the NFC.

I am with you, never cared for "ol mushmouth" as I affectionately called him, he had his oh so obvious favorites, and really enjoyed kicking the Raiders when they were down. I do think his diction has improved over the years, as well as tempered his favoritism, but he is still a master of stating the obvious, and I just find him to be patently annoying. He may have been one of the better linemen of the perennial loser Cardinal teams, but I honestly couldn't remember any defining moment of his playing career, nor his broadcast career for that matter. Nonetheless I wish him well in retirement, his longevity alone is an accomplishment.
