nobody, but if bullying is so bad why not start throwing people in jail for it?

They should charge the guy. Threatening to assault his mother and kill him?

Yeah he's a pussy for making an issue out of it...

Incognito's getting off easy. In almost every other line of work, he'd be fired and would have a hard time getting a job of any real value.

Expect it would be called harassment and theft and not bullying, in most business.

So Mcro_rave where is the line? All around the country and world kids and adults alike are being threatened daily by others. Sometimes being called names. Other times as we see here with Martin threats of physical violence towards him and those that he loves. We are talking about money being taken. This happens all the time where kids are afraid to take nice things to school in fear of them being stolen. They are physically abused to the point that they feel they need to bring weapons to school to protect themselves. Again where is the line in all of this?

It's already possible to be jailed for threatening violence. Not a popular option in the court system, but it is an option.

Most of the times its fines and restraining orders.

In incognitos case I'd make an exception because he's been a giant doosh his whole life.

He's so stupid he's going to wind up in jail eventually anyway.

There is definitely something very wrong when Martin is called a pussy for choosing to handle his problems in a civilized manner.

So anytime somebody makes a threat they should just be allowed to say whatever they want? Terrorists threaten America all the time so that means we should just ignore those threats and take no action towards them I guess. Students make threats to bomb schools and shoot them up so I guess we should just start ignoring those and take no action to be proactive. I guess the fact that RI has a history of physical violence towards others that should just be ignored when he makes physical threats.

there is no clear line is all this. I was bullied severely as a kid growing up with the inability to grow hair and being a small child (115 lbs) in 11th grade wasn't easy, and today i'm still called name like powder, mr Clean etc.

I think the best thing to do is to teach people to be proud of who they are and don't let others opinion bother you. I had to learn this early and my philosophy today is i am who i am you like or you don't and if you don't too fucking bad.

You know I was never bullied, just the opposite I was a decent sized kid but I was tough and knew how to fight so I bullied kids, and I regret that a lot today.

What kind of answer is that? I'm sorry you were bullied as a kid. I'm glad that you have risen above it but there are thousands upon thousands of kids every year that can't rise above it and either respond with violent outbursts towards others, have mental problems the rest of their lives because of bullying problems, or even worse end up taking their own life. Not everybody can rise above the bullying they are going through. Not everybody's mental make up is the same. Wouldn't it be better to try and take on the issue of bullying and stop it before it stops than just hope people are tough enough to handle all that they go through? Many people who are bullied end up becoming bullies themselves towards others. Seems like a bad pattern to continue to allow to happen in this world. Icognito has already come out talking about the bullying he went through and now look what it has lead to in violent outbursts and mentally abusing others.

the bullying only stopped for me when i stood up to the bullies. Going to the school and the parents of the kids that were being bullies didn't help and only made things worse.

Food for thought:

Our fucking military has anti-hazing rules that can get your ass court-martialed or worse. Those are the baddest of the bad. They know how bad of an environment this creates and addressed it. If they can do it, the NFL can and should.

In my house, we were raised to stick up for eachother, never bully anyone else, and help if someone else was being bullied. Now unlike my brothers and sisters, I liked to fight, a lot. And even though I wasn't a very big kid, I liked to fight bullies. Sometimes my old man would get pissed, but if my siblings were there to tell him that I hit that kid at the bus stop because he was picking on the weird kid that lived down the street, he would be proud and tell me that there are things worth fighting for, like good people.

Bullying will be around as long insecurity is. And you cant erase it, but you can address each instance as they come. And in this instance, get the shitty teammate out of your locker room. I usually dont like to judge athletes on a personal level because we dont know these guys. But I will make an exception for Incognito. Before this I thought that he was a piece of shit, but now there's no doubt at all.

True becoming a shellback in the navy today is nothing like it was back in the day.

Doesn't the NFL already have anti-hazing rules? I know hazing still happens especially to rookies but there are rules that control the level of hazing correct?

RI may have the most culpability but that whole team needs to look themselves in the mirror and ask are we a team? Or just a group of cliques.

I can't see this one ending well for the staff and current team leaders.

Then I suspect you really haven't paid much attention to some of the stories coming out in the media of kids who have been bullied. Just recently there was a girl who went to a party, was drugged, then raped. While this was happening the boys recorded this happening then sent the video all around the school. Instead of these boys being brought up on criminal charges this girl was the one that was bullied in the situation. The police would do nothing in the situation (thankfully are now under investigation for covering up cases like this to protect star athletes). This girl was told by many in the community that she had it coming and blamed her for putting herself in such a situation. The whole town turned against her and her family as her mother lost her job and they eventually had to move. In the process of moving their house was burned to the ground. This girl eventually committed suicide from all of this. The police cover all of it up, the school system does nothing to help her and her family, her brothers end up getting bullied as well in school, the whole town turns against them, and eventually their house is burned to the ground. I guess you expect a 14 year old girl to rise above this kind of stuff.

we all get bullied at some point, i'm picking on the decision to suspend a player because another player cried about being bullied.[/QUOTE]

Agreed...for right now I'll call it mental abuse b/c Idk Incognito had any physical intimidation going on.

The point I'm making is Martin really handled this in a mature fashion even though it might appear to be soft...weaker minds are more likely to take the easy way out and take people out...rather than deal with it.
