Being the Broncos lost today makes me real nervous for next week's game, they showed a lot of weaknesses on defense but they're gonna be pissed after tonights game, I hope we don't get our heads handed to us which is what will happen if we play like today.

Cmon - let's be honest. This is a game that has been penciled in as a loss for quite a while - even back when we had very high hopes for this years Redskins. I don't really care about Denver's approach to this game. Just want to see the Redskins play a somewhat solid game - at least on offense. Defense will probably be bad since the Broncos are so good on offense & as for special teams - well - almost expecting a gaff or two from this unit every game.

I would love to be surprised if any of this turned out differently. I wonder if they will have a big tribute for Shanahan before the game. j/k

Well, we know what to expect next week. Payton will have over 50 passes for well over 300 yds. He will exploit the middle of our D behind the LBs at will. Our only chance is to keep their offense off the field and control the TOP by running Morris, Helu, and RG3. For us to have any chance, we are going to have to score close to, or over, 40 points.

This actually may be a game that we back off of the blitz in favor of an extra S or CB in the secondary. Blitzing Payton rarely yields results. He gets rid of the ball so quick, you just don't have time to get to him. I would seriously think about activating Minnifield this game and think about putting him on Welker at the LOS to disrupt their timing on those quick slants he does. DHall has been playing very well the last couple of games. Put him again on their best outside receiver, probably Decker, to shut him down. However, Decker is the master of the stop and go......DHall is the master of biting on those moves. He probably needs some help over the top.

These are the games being large underdogs they play better in IMO. I'd be more worried playing the jags cause those are the type of games they usually suck in.
Here's to shocking everyone:suds:

Sadly, this has been the case for us too much in the past.

Obviously, Denver CAN be beaten. Rattle Peyton and you'll see wobbly passes and some mistakes. Play aggressive D. Get a few TOs and dominate TOP. Manning can't hurt you, if he's not on the field. There are areas to exploit on their offensive line and defense which has some holes... And be on the right side of luck going your teams way.

All that said, we only have one phase of the game that could possibly be competitive with Denver and even that requires everything being in sync for 60 minutes. I just want to see a great effort from all players and continued improvement, especially on offense.

One thing I have to give Griff credit for, he is an amazing competitor. He always believes he can win and he will go into Denver with exactly that attitude. You can't win football games any other way. I think he relishes the underdog status. Just motivates him more.

Of course, this competitiveness is also his greatest weakness as well. Anyone else cringe yesterday at the number of hits he took? Also, there will be no benefit of doubt along the sidelines in the future, most likely. Players are going to take their shots and I can't blame them given Griffs recent remarks. While Griffs runs yesterday seemed to be smarter than in the past, there were still a few times, fighting for a few paltry yards and diving head first that made me want to tear my hair out. Oh well, you gotta take the good with the bad... I just hope he plays smart and makes good decisions, when he runs.

i had this as a loss and i think it will be a big loss and a humiliating type of day for us especially on defense .

for us to win we need pressure up the middle and with 4 guys (cofield ?) our secondary will have to be on top of its game

we wont have either doughty or merriweather

the offense will need well over 200 yds rushing and no turnovers . hard to do

i am looking at a 56-21 game in favor of denver

I think the Broncis secondary is playing as bad as ours
If somehow we do not turn the ball over and we get a few turnovers we could have a chance

Realistically, we have to take crazy chances to win this game.

I am talking multiple onside kicks.

I am talking going for it every time we are 4th and 2 or less.

All out blitzes.

Dropping 9 into coverage.

I disregard a lot of what Bleacher report puts out, but this was a well written article regarding weaknesses shown by the Broncos and Peyton this year.

I hadn't realized that there had been so many fumbles for the Broncos in the past 3 games. Clady missing is really hurting them and injuries are definitly impacting the Oline. The gif showing Mathis aggressively pass rushing needs to be studied and replicated. While Mathis is a premier talent, we do have a pretty good pass rushing tandem ourselves. Only problem is: with our secondary, further depleted by Merriweather gone and Doughty questionable, we may not be able to take advantage of our pass rush/blitzing schemes.

And if our ST just plays average. Can't allow a return for a TD either.

I had the Redskins winning against Chicago. Then again, I had us beating PHI, DET, and DAL.

What I would like to see on Sunday afternoon:

Special Teams - It's a broken record at this point, but we can't expect to win this game making any mistakes, which is why the battle of field position is key. Rocca & Forbath need to angle their kicks & put them out the back of the end zone. The elevation of Mile High should help. After Amerson's injury all the guy should recognize the importance of keeping their heads on a swivel. Keith Burns says he wants to stick with his scheme. Hopefully this does not meet the definition of insanity.
karatekid2.gif

Defense - This week is not about exotic blitzes, it's about executing the blitzes. We're not going to confuse Manning with a complicated scheme. From shutting down the run to Kerrigan & Orakpo getting pressure, it all starts with Coffield demanding the double team. Bowen may be limited, so Baker needs to have an impact. Rambo will get his opportunity this week with BM out and must make the most of it. It goes without saying, but this game, again, will depend on the performance of the secondary. They had a huge impact in Dallas. We need a repeat performance. They just need to prevent the big play and hold on long enough for Rak & Kerrigan to make an impact. I expect Orakpo to have the best game of the season going up against their LT.

Offense - The number one priority, as always, is establish the run to set up the play action. Because of the elevation I do not expect Morris to get 20+ carries. Instead split it up between Morris, Helu - perhaps even a little DY & Royster. I expect lots of stretch plays to wear down their defense. Controlling the time of possesion is more important this week then most to give the defense a breather at the higher elevation. The receivers and TE blocking has been great thus far, and must continue. I'm sure after last week they're going to try and take away Reed ... I say let them try. Their passing defense is not that great. It would be great if Hankerson would finally have a breakout game, but he injured his foot this week, so fingers crossed.

The obvious: We need to limit our stupid mistakes, turnovers & penalties ... while capitalizing on theirs by turning them into points.

Had this penciled in as a loss from very early on, as well. If RG3 looks as spry as he did vs the Cowboys & Bears at the start of the season (I drank the kool-aid and thought he was healthy, let's not kid ourselves he wasn't) then this team is without a doubt 4-2 or 3-3 at this point. We'll probably be 2-5 after this game but have 3 very winnable games coming up vs the Chargers (1 oclock at home), Vikings and Eagles. I'm just hoping for 5-5 by Week 11 and in the thick of the NFCE race.

Damn, lots of mismatches for this game. And not in our favor. Skins can score, Broncos can score more. I just want to see every player balling to the best of their ability. No shame in losing to a better team. But play to win, regardless.

And who knows, a few TOs, a couple good bounces, a sack or two, ST possibly stepping up and playing average, D playing out of their mind with no safeties (ok, I'm dreaming here), well... any given Sunday... Go skins!
