People who switch loyalty to a team just because they are winning, aren't really a fan of any team.

That being said, people have many different reasons of why they become fans of a team.

If their original reasons drastically change, there is no reason to continue to support that situation.

Disagree. You stick with your team if you're a FAN of that team through THICK and through THIN. No argument, no EXCUSES...

So your opinion is that Cleveland Browns fans should have became Baltimore Ravens fans when the team moved?
It is the same team. Correct?
The day they moved, I instantly changed from rooting for them to rooting hard against them.

Nice reach...

But if you're a FAN of that team you STILL shouldn't switch. Sorry, Turnip. But people switch teams because they're concerned about how it looks on THEM, end of discussion. Seen it WAY too often. If fans are "casual fans" and all that BULLoney and wanna switch then why's it ALWAYS to whoever's WINNING? Pretty much tells the tale...

"Brainwashing?" Really? Lol whatever you say. I don't see how That's possible, but OK if you say so...:laugh3:

So the concepts of faith, loyalty, and perseverance are beyond you. Whatever. It is what it is I guess...

STILL tells me that it's a self esteem issue. Apparently since you and others put the time into FOLLOWING this entertainment it's very important to you to feel like a winner...

first, faith, loyalty and perseverance are the qualities you attach to following a sports team? LMAO

Why would rooting for a team make me feel like a winner? Am I a coach? Did I choose the personnel? Am I even a ball boy? Are you any of those things? What do you do that makes you think that you have any affect on the outcome of a game that would make you entitled to feeling like a winner after they win?

Disagree. You stick with your team if you're a FAN of that team through THICK and through THIN. No argument, no EXCUSES...

Yea, your spouse beating you is just a rough patch. Just like the browns are just going through a rough few decades.

because it is those fans who stick with their teams who get all the shit? Every fan takes and gives shit to other fans, that is the fun part of sports but nobody takes more shit than people who switch teams.

DO tell me why else you even put an OUNCE of energy following ANY team. LMAO yeah, didn't think so...

Oh please. ANOTHER reach. Nice try at putting words in my mouth...

Once again, why even put one iota of energy backing anyone? It'd seem to me it'd be a complete waste of time if I bought into this slop you're selling...:laugh3:

Yea, your spouse beating you is just a rough patch. Just like the browns are just going through a rough few decades.

Well, that's YOUR analogy. For something that's "just entertainment" seems you took it pretty serious with that line of crap...

I've been a Chiefs fan since the 67 season. Will NEver switch. that'd be VERY weak as a fan to do. Every team I follow I'll do so 'til I die. MUCH more satisfaction when MY teams win. How easy is it to keep switching allegiances and saying you're a true Gan? DO keep trying...

because it is those fans who stick with their teams who get all the shit? Every fan takes and gives shit to other fans, that is the fun part of sports but nobody takes more shit than people who switch teams.

So from THIS line you switch because you hate taking crap from other fans. Pretty sad if you ask me...

Keep being a bandwagon fan if you'd like. Your world...

not sure what line you are talking about but if it is the last one I stated that people who SWITCH teams take the most crap. Example is you giving it right now.

And it is my world, which is why I root for players, not corporations.

I am only faithful, loyal, and persevere for things that are important. Being a fan of a specific basketball team is not important. Everyone wants to feel like a winner. Its human nature. However, I dont get my self esteem from what someone else is doing on the court. That would seem to be the condition of those that are downright patriotic in their allegiance to a team that views them as a dollar sign. Me? I could care less. I only want to be entertained and see people achieve their goals.

How is that a "nice reach"?
Isn't it fact? The Cleveland Brown fan base had an instant hatred for Modell which included rooting for his team.

I agree ex Browns fan shouldn't the next day become Steeler fans, etc.. but we certainly were within our fanship rights to abandon rooting for a team we had previously lived and died with.

How about the Marlins? Not that I ever was a fan, but you would give a free pass to an owner who bilked a city for a new stadium, spent a ton of cash, and the guts the entire roster after one season?

So, I do agree with you that fans should deal with the rough times if they come from the natural progressions of the ups and downs the all teams go through, but there certainly are circumstances when fans have every right to jump ship.

Lol, whatever bandwagoners say to make THEMSELVES feel better. Funny that ALL the teams I follow I chose to because I DID think for myself. Keep switching jerseys to make yourselves feel like winners if you like. Free country..

Resolve. Some fans have it, bandwagoners DON'T...:lol:

Remember, it ain't that important...

It seems to be extremely important to you. Remember fan is short for fanatic. The word lists zealot, militant, and extremist as some of its synonyms. if you get that worked up over another man or men from a particular team with no benefit to you then thats a problem. There is a reason domestic abuse attacks go up after sporting events. Men who live vicariously through other men are often dangerous when those men loose the game. I dont think that has anything to do with resolve. Its just a game not life or death.

Says the guy who thinks fan loyalty somehow equates to "brainwashing"...

Remember fan is short for fanatic. The word lists zealot, militant, and extremist as some of its synonyms. if you get that worked up over another man or men from a particular team with no benefit to you then thats a problem.

Thanks, but I KNOW what the word means...

So you want to tell me YOU don't get "worked up" at all when your team...whoever they happen to be for the moment...is playing and you happen to be watching. Interesting...

What you're suggesting is somehow fans who DO get worked up have an issue. Lord knows what you base that off of...

There is a reason domestic abuse attacks go up after sporting events. Men who live vicariously through other men are often dangerous when those men loose the game. I dont think that has anything to do with resolve. Its just a game not life or death.

Amazing. Too many people in this world unfortunately think this way. Generalize, slap on a label, and put it in an ice box. Nice...

Trust me when I say this. I'll flat out yell and curse at my TV, but I've never abused my wife. In fact, we've had 28 happy years together...and COUNTING...

I do want to thank you for your concern, though...

For someone who doesn't take this seriously you seem to really want me to buy into this. Not gonna happen...

FACT: every band wagoner and fair weather fan I've ever seen are individuals who are too weak .to be able to take the words "your team SUCKS". Period, end of argument. If all this was as casual as you SAY it is why even follow sports...?:noidea:
