It is requested of every fan and never returned. I am not saying we should not have loyalty to those who earn it or deserve it. Friends and family of course, but million dollar corporations playing chess with players do not and never should.

There is never loyalty is sports... Its all just a business. Players leave or get traded... If lebron leaves miami i will say the same thing i said to Alonzo mouring when he left miami to go play for a championship contending team new jersey nets.. "thank you for all the great memories". Everyone in miami felt like that and will do the same for lebron.

Because it is a shock if the fans break their allegiance. It means the NBA teams have to find out what went wrong with their fan programming.

If you say so. REAL fans IMO NEVER break their allegiance and stick with their teams through thick and thin. That's part of the process of BEING a fan...

Jus saying'...

Then being a "real fan" is dumb. I revert back to the battered spouse example.

So basically "real fans" just do not care about the product, whether it be trash or good. What job do you have that the product quality allows for that level of inconsistency...real fans are fast food workers?

Niiiccceee. Too bad the "battered wife" example doesn't apply here. It's sports franchises, bud. Which means you have no say in the matter on how things are run. As far as your fast food analogy is concerned all this tells ME is you have VERY little resolve. So in your view of putting someone who's a true, avid fan down I'd say it isn't US with the issue...

This is simply some weak, tired excuse to BAIL at the first sign of trouble.and it'd seem mostly to feel better with your OWN self esteem...

Band wagon fans get trashed on constantly, nobody trashes on "true fans".

I am not sure you know the battered spouse example.

Spouse A beats other spouse B. B makes excuses and stays deep in their heart knowing it will happen again. B gets beat again. The first time I feel bad, the 2nd not at all. They should have left. To make this less dramatic, maybe B just wants more time with A, just wants A to take an interest in B's interests or etc etc. If you stay with that person knowing they will not change it is quite clear the problem is not A's but rather B's. (Clearly A has issues, but the follower of a fool is always the most foolish.) B should know that A is not going to change or be better. B needs to move on.

Now apply this principle to the long list of inadequate GMs and owners. Constantly they either make poor decisions in what they think is the best interest of winning a title (Cavs, Kings, Hornets, Bobcats) or completely ignore the fans interests (winning titles) instead doing what they can to make money (Thunder, Bucks, Hawks).

Now a true fan stands by those franchises because they are close, it is known, it is easier not to be questioned by there friends and family and the most damning of all qualities pride. The exact same reason a spouse continues to get beat and will not leave.

True fans are just the spouse that will not leave despite your GM/Owner being either completely inept or not caring what the fan desires more than to take the dollar from their pocket.

The say you have is ultimate because you can simply walk away. Change your avatar and buy a new hat, a new jersey and stop hating on every franchise better than the one you just spent too long rooting for.

I understand you're analogy. I simply don't buy into it. Sorry, but switching teams just to be happy following a winner pretty much tells the story...

Are you saying real fans are aware of being brainwashed or they don't know they are brainwashed? I think that the NBA is a product for entertainment. If you cant put out a good product (individual teams) why should I blindly support you financially and emotionally? Actually sounds like a religion when I put it like that.

Hey - Bot - I know you like getting high - considering that Mo must be smoking some powerful stuff, you should ask him for some his weed or whatever it is. Any one that is going to go on record saying McGrady was a better player then Kobe has really got to be high on something - lmao

I am not sure why you old guys think weed is this horrible thing of a drug. Compare it statistically to alcohol and it is a joke how much safer it is.

I guess change scares the old people.

People who switch loyalty to a team just because they are winning, aren't really a fan of any team.

That being said, people have many different reasons of why they become fans of a team.

If their original reasons drastically change, there is no reason to continue to support that situation.

"Brainwashing?" Really? Lol whatever you say. I don't see how That's possible, but OK if you say so...:laugh3:

So the concepts of faith, loyalty, and perseverance are beyond you. Whatever. It is what it is I guess...

STILL tells me that it's a self esteem issue. Apparently since you and others put the time into FOLLOWING this entertainment it's very important to you to feel like a winner...
