Poor, poor Tony. Despite having a long career, he has never played on a team that won a playoff game.
Falcons begged Tony to come back for one more season and five weeks into the season, Atlanta's season could be done.

So, the NFL Media is trying to arrange a trade of Tony Gonzalez to his former team, the CHIEFS.

No one in the NFL Media cares about the Falcons salvaging their season or if Matt Ryan gets killed because he has no viable receivers.

Why not just let Tony pick the team he wants to go to. Give him until 1 hour before the trading deadline to decide... because after all, the NFL isn't about franchises winning football games,

it's about doing what's right for Tony Gonzalez (what a crock of shit)

I agree, He's a HOFer and should do whatever he wants to do. If he truly wants to go to KC then i believe KC should try to make some arrangements for that to happen, but why would Atlanta want to do this? What is the NFL going to do, put the screws to Atlanta to make it happen?

Yeah, regardless of how compelling a story it might be for Gonzales to return to KC, trying to arrange for that to happen probably isn't traditional league business. At the same time, it does seem that there might be room for KC and Atlanta to perhaps reach a mutually beneficial deal that would return Tony to KC. He could possibly be a very big asset in the KC passing game.

I don't think that the league will decide the compensation for any trade that might be reached. I imagine that the front office in KC has to see the opportunity to get Gonzalez back as a potentially big factor in how far they might go in the playoffs this year. I could see KC giving up, say a 4th or 5th round pick, to get him.

If the Falcons continue to lose , trade him to a contender. Let's not attack him because of, idiotic media and how much they annoy us.

Easy to overlook.

True. I overlooked it until someone pointed it out.

I do think that trading Gonzalez back to KC might make sense for both teams, since Gonzalez is presumably right now worth quite a bit more to KC than he is to Atlanta. When you say that the NFL Media is trying to arrange a deal, do you mean the league itself or, say NFL Network, is trying to do that?

If tony wants to move, he will move. If he doesn't he won't.

It's that simple IMO.

The tight end told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports Tuesday that he absolutely does not want to be traded.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a high-ranking Falcons source, that Atlanta [ame=""]has no interest[/ame] in trading Gonzalez despite the Jones injury. The Falcons are not yet ready to give up on the season, Rapoport added.

Gonzalez never was going to put off retirement for any team other than the Falcons. It's too late in the process for the 37-year-old to learn a new offense and develop a strong rapport with a different quarterback.

Tony won his first playoff game last year, he's looking for a ring.

I'd like to see him get one and if the Falcons season is over, I wish him luck with the Chiefs.

Interesting. I guess I find the prospect of Gonzalez returning to KC more compelling than he does. Of course I'm glad that it apparently won't happen, since it seems to me that he could potentially add a lot to the KC passing attack.
