Den: looks like a team that is seemingly unstoppable on offense, D is a question mark until we find out what it looks like when Champ and crew are back.

KC: Intriguing on defense, but I am not sure the offensive consistency is really there to compete with Denver in the division, but a playoff spot seems likely.

SD: ... ????????????? Injuries, nuff said, well, not quite, Phillip Rivers looks pretty solid this year so far. Can they still sneak into a WC spot somehow?

Oak: How good is TP exactly, and what does that mean going forward?

KC goes 5-6 the rest of the way they'll get to 10-6 which SHOULD get 'em in. also let's not leave out the special teams for the Chiefs, too. they've done a pretty nice job imo...

Pryor has the potential to make people forget all about the hype on RG3, if the coaching staff and blockers can make sure he doesn't have any more concussions.

The last pick of the Ultimate Raider ( Al Davis) may end up being quite a steal...

Teams other than Denver in the division last year combined for a 13-35 record. Those three teams are 9-6 this year so far. The "W" in AFCW probably won't stand for "worst" this year.

Nice to see the AFC West no longer the laughing stock of the NFL! A lot of new fans have no idea about the history between all these teams and the great rivalries through the years. I hope this season is a sign of things to come of all these teams actually competing for the division once again and the AFC West being the most feared division in football.

We are seeing a shift in the NFL, the divisions that have been the worst are now getting better while the divisions that have been good are not getting worse.

The AFCW and the NFCW were bad divisions and now they are the best, while division like the AFCN and the NFCE that have been good are now towards the bottom. This happens every few years in the NFL and it just goes to show how hard it is to have consistent success in the NFL. It's part of why i like the NFL.

Part of me wants to see the Raiders beat the Chiefs once again mostly just for division rankings. Another part of me though wants the Chiefs to squash all hope of Raider fans that their team stands a chance at the playoffs this year. I can't imagine how crazy the Raider fan base would go if they won.

I always root for ties that entail afcwest games that don't involve the Chiefs. If it is the playoffs? 10 overtimes.

i've been a Chiefs fan since the '67 season(hence the 67 in my handle), so i know EXACTLY what you're saying. there's a LOT of rich history in the division known as the AFC West. and i'm with you. this one of the more feared divisions in football for a time. it just might be AGAIN soon enough...

This is a pretty good analysis. I think the Chargers look like an 8-8 team, they'll win some games they shouldn't and lose some they shouldn't. Raiders I think are still around a 6 win team, but they'll beat you if you don't take them seriously.

Not so crazy when you remember how many games you have won the last 6 years, times been tough all round, the Chefs are on the upswing and I think the Raiders are too, that says a lot about the state of the AFC West

Some of us have been around long enough to know how good we once were, in my case a win over the Chefs isn't that surprising, I will know the Raiders have something to show when they win some more non-division games.

All I can say to that is, I am going to one very loud and obnoxious fan on Sunday trying to get that streak for the Oakies to end, and to bring the record back to Arrowhead where it belongs :yahoo::horn::yahoo: ( and no, I am not of the obnoxious douchebag variety you might see at the stadium near you)

The AFC West looks to have 2 playoff teams, one team that is in the midst of a minor rebuild with a top 10 QB and tons of injuries, and one team that is admittedly better than I thought they would be. Although Oakland's roster still has some major gaps, but plenty of salary cap room.

This year the division is better, but next year the Broncos and Chiefs will essentially be the same team, and the Chargers and Raiders will be improved. Could be the toughest division we've seen in years next season.
