uh huh. How do you think they come to a decision without voting?

The exact same way NCAA Basketball does. In a group discussion.

It will rarely go to a show of hands. This wont be secret ballot voting later revealed like the AP and Coaches poll.

So basically you want what we currently have, people who have never played the sport and many who barely know the rules of the sport, deciding who should be playing in the championship game. Just with one extra round. Got it.

I want what we currently have to come up with the four teams.

*except I'd get rid of the coaches poll and replace with something like the AP

And add computers to this^^^^

I have faith.

But they damn well better get Dari Nowkah on that freaking panel. I would even want Colin Cowherd on it.

Need some good media folks. Fowler, Palmer, and a few others come to mind.

Harris only would be better than adding the AP. AP is THE most biased group of voters out there.

Hmm, so Condi you like Stanford over Oregon huh?

Yeah I think they're better.

But they lost to Oregon.

So.

What about you Mr. Luck. I like Stanford because my son went there... uh I mean they're better.

But they lost to Oregon

So.

What about all you South Eastern Conference members?

We like Alabama, LSU, Georgia and AtM.

LSU lost 3 games Georgia and AtM lost 2.

We just beat each other up.

Okay... let's vote.

But there are a lot of voters which put the voting somewhere about right. The individual voters can be picked apart (and there are some dumb dumbs) but overall the poll is right.

Somebody has to vote. There will always be an human element, therefore there will never be a perfect solution.

And you don't think that all of the voters are not over ranking SEC teams now? Oh no of course not, that doesn't fit your narrative. But yes the current voters who are completely biased will all of the sudden stop being completely biased because now they are voting for the national championship and they weren't before.

Also the super secret computers have already ranked teams wrong in the past because of an error in the formula but since most of the polls do not show their formulas we have no idea how often it happens.

and if by some miracle your team isn't 7-6 and is the one that gets screwed in an obviously susceptible to bias system?

Just curious on the bias that you have seen that has happened in the NCAA Basketball tournament (the most exciting decider of a champion in the history of the sport)? It has a smaller committee so obviously the bias has to be much more evident there right. Unless you are going to go to a system like the professional sports where there is a set criteria that does not involve voting then you are going to have susceptibility to bias, just like two years ago when Alabama was in the national title game despite playing a nearly mid-major schedule.

It's 65 soon to be 68 teams. Lots of bias is built into that system. However you also get less of an argument when you get that many in. If you're 68 you suck. You have no chance.

With 4 teams it will be very easy for someone to "justify" their position with age ol' "eye ball test" to put the team they want where they want.

Looks like Stanford's #1 Fan, Condi Rice may be a member of the committee as reported by AP. She has my vote for committee chairperson. If you can negotiate with dictators, and government egomaniacs negotiating with football people should be no problem! :laugh3:

I will admit I am very biased here, but...

anyone who has served in federal government....

I, personally, don't want them anywhere near anything that gives them any kind of power over college football.

Yep. Next thing you know we'll have Obamaplayoffs, where the bottom 2 teams in the country play each other with the winner advancing to play the top team for the championship.

Theres no such thing as an unbiased opinion when someone is a fan.

The best committee would be a pencil neck geek think tank that gives a rats ass about football, that was paid well, who would analyze the data according to what is afforded the committee to make their decision by and base their decision off of that.

Of course any committee like this is a stupid idea when the real solution is so much easier and more profitable.
