Winter meetings ended yesterday right? Maybe Choo wanted to wait until they were over to sign. We can only hope....

It's certainly possible, I'm not saying he's gone...just that I highly doubt JD waits around for Boras... or that he or this team can afford to

I gotta give it to Boras. He's a hell of a sports agent. He takes care of his clients. Let's not forget that he does what his client wants...if players want to put their foot down Boras has no issue with that. We can love to hate Boras but he isn't the problem IMO.

As for Choo, while I think we have a good shot at landing him lets not forget that it just takes one team. That team could come out of left field. Fielder was on the market for a long time and Detroit swooped in and signed him to 9 years and 214 million. So I'm not really confident until he actually signs and it's on record from him or his agent.

Buster Olney:
It's just speculation, but I wonder if Shin-Soo Choo's best chance to get paid the most money he can will be with the Houston Astros.

Bor-ass is only concerned with taking care of himself. he doesn't care if the team one of his clients signs with is competitive or not as long as the contract guarantees that his agent commission is as big as it can be.

The player doesn't have to sign. It ultimately falls on the player, not on the agent who's job it is, is to seek out top dollar.

Boras is one of the most successful MLB agents of all time. You don't get there by only thinking of your own wallet.

And what's wrong with that? If someone is willing to pay what's wrong with that? If his clients want to have the chance to net the biggest contract they can while they're still able to play the game what's wrong with that? He's out for the best interest of himself and his clients...welcome to the world and the way it works. I have a really hard time having anything against Boras here.

Boras is just really good at his job, he knows that his job is to do whatever his clients ask him to do. If they want the biggest contract possible then he'll do everything in his power to do that for them, regardless of whether it makes him hated by some fans because that's his job. But in the cases of Weaver and Andrus, if they tell him that they want to stay and will sign an extension then he'll do his best to get that done.

:agree:......If a player chooses to sign with Houston bc they offered the most money, yet knowing if they lost 98 games next season, the franchise would consider this as progress, then shame on him.

Can the Astro's even be competitive 3 years from now is a big question mark to me?
