Lebron will never be the dominating player that Shaq could be. Shaq took a lot of hard fouls consistently where Lebron bitches and whines about fouls only half as bad. Sorry Heat Chuckles - But Shaq was better:lol:

Shaq, Wilt and MJ. No one can ever match that level of dominance. In his prime Shaq was an unstoppable force.

How can you compare a 7'1" 315 pound center to a SF/SG??

So Lebron isn't an unstoppable force?? Bc He can do whatever he wants when he wants.

No one was as dominant as Shaq was in his prime. Shaq could had been one of the greatest centers of all time if he would kept himself in shape and quit being lazy. Much respect to Shaq for helping the heat win its first championship ever. It was a nice try to put up a troll thread ... epic fail!

How are you going to compare Shaq to Lebron? In Shaqs prime no one EVER dominated the game like he did. If Jordan was on the Lakers with Shaq its still Shaqs team. Shaq dominated in ways only a big man could.

I am not sure what the threads point.

Even the most die-hard Lebron fans acknowledge the point about prime SHAQ>

It is pretty common knowledge that SHAQ was arguably the best player in the history of the game during that first Laker run.

His dominance in those prime years was unmatched. He would have obliterated Russell and Wilt.

You could have put pretty much any wing player as his #2 Robin sidekick and LA would win titles.

Nobody has ever argued against how great Shaq was in those small prime years.

But, he wasted most of his career by being content at simply great (raw talent).

His laziness held him back.

If he had worked even a little bit of effort, he would have been the #1 transcendent all time great (raw talent + effort).

I think what we should all take away from this is that a non center should never be considered the greatest of all time.

@horns Shaq on Wilt? I mean Russell has a huge size disadvantage but Wilt was really strong...but still at a size disadvantage probably.

Lebron does not have the body and power that Shaq had and furthermore Shaq was kind of lazy, but Lebron has to get it done in different ways. One way is finesse and free throws, passing, and boxing out players and simply being smart

Shaq brought the Lakers 3 championships and 1 to the Heat - Lets see how many Lebron brings to the table in his career. No trolling - just a unique comparison

That's a tough one I admit, but there has been some really damned good players that were not centers and I think some of them might have been better then most centers.

how do you start a blatant troll thread to respond honestly to it? :D

and obviously Shaq can bench more than LBJ...at least I hope so!!

If we were basing our calculations off percentages of their weight LBJ would crush Shaq.

found something kind of fun:

Wilt was ridiculously athletic too. I think Shaq would have had trouble with him. When you watch Wilt in his prime one thing you see is that there are pretty much always multiple bodies on him at the offensive end, no matter where he is or where the ball is.

I guess this depends on your definition of GOAT.

If it is the most dominant in their prime your list should be all centers...if it is the most skilled then probably a 1 or 2.

Player who does the best at the most positions and you have LBJ/end list.

If it is credentials then it is Russell/MJ/Kareem.

I really wish there was more footage of Russell.

I don't know what Shaq's wingspan is but I'd think it would be seriously working against him in a bench press competition with Barkley. Chuck's arms look about half as long.

Normally - I don't compare centers to others because it's like saying an orange is better then an apple, and normally my favorite position and preferred player in any game is a strong 7 foot center that can play. I personally thought the Lakers made a mistake a few years ago when they dropped Mbenga - he was 7 foot, could play and was a strong defender, but seldom got into a nice rythem because he didn't get enough playing time, but that being said - If Lebron goes on to win 4 more championships - would you really be able to say that Shaq was better? It's a bit fair to discount a player because he doesn't have frame that a big dominant center has, especially if he finds ways to make up for it
