Kids now look at the recenct more than the past. does tradition help? yes in some cases. but kids also want to play for the team that is winning recently. more and more kids now dont know the big names of the past. Bo and Woody and Bear are being replaced by Saban, Miles and Meyer.

Oregon has great facilities and good recruiting and a good team. and Oregon has built up to where the name means something. Oregon has tradition its just a shorter story than that of Michigan Alabama and USC. doesnt mean that it means nothing to some recruits.

True, except that's not what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that Oregon is more susceptible to failures impacting their football program. If Oregon goes 3-9 this year, I doubt they can land a top 25 recruiting class; even with their facilities. Where as a team like Michigan will always land top 25 classes.

About what I expected from you. In the face of overwhelming evidence contrary to your position, you choose to stick your head far up your ass. Not worth any more time. :gaah:
Nothing of the sort, you cited the study. I'm citing the study you posted. In that study, facilities were the LAST thing of the 4 major things that recruits look at. The fact that Oregon has a Jacuzzi in their weight room and Alabama doesn't is not going to make a difference.

How much do you think they use " you could be Oregon's first Heisman winner" " you can help Oregon win our first NC"
You think those things woulndt appeal to kids too?

I'm sure they do use it. But showing a recruit an empty trophy case and saying "You can put the first one in the case" doesn't have quite the "Wow factor" of showing them several that the school has already won!!

Of course there are some kids who will be attracted to the idea of being the first, but it's hard to use that vs. going to a school that has a tradition/history of winning them!!

Man are you dense. You really don't even know what your own position is.

All the things I cite in the research, and you hang your hat on a rusty nail of the fact that the facilities are the LAST of the 4 major things recruits look at. So, let's see where you are wrong:

1. There weren't just 4 major things recruits look at ... there were 15 factors, of which quality of playing facilities was 4th. If you are going to cite the study, you should really read the article before you start trying to argue about them. I would also point out that had you read the article you would have seen that playing facilities ranked as the fourth most important factor, while campus living facilities and team facilities ranked sixth and eighth, respectively. So, we have three facilities categories ranked in the top 8.

2. And guess what, tradition wasn't in the top 4. I wish I could find the study, but I have been unable to. But, we know for sure that playing facilities is 4th, with tradition behind it, wherever it is.

3. And then, of course, you ignored all the other info.

Quit digging your hole deeper.

Oregon tells recruits they can help with the next jersey design.

They can continue the winning tradition

you get an Oregon degree

You get instant connections to Nike (these recruits LOVE Nike)

You get this glass palace for 4-5 years of your life

You get to be the trend setters for college football

There are endless pitches by Oregon that attract kids that don't have to do with crystal balls.

Prior to posting this, the shower is running with scalding hot water and I have added rubbing alcohol to my body wash (ya it is a totally manly brand of body wash). Reason is I can't believe I' m typing this and feel dirty just thinking it. Ya a few Oregon posters are excited, a bit aggressive, mildly boastful and at times over-bearing. But can you really blame them? This program is on the cutting edge from results to marketing. As far as I am concerned there are only 3 types of fans that can bash on Oregon without shame:

1. LSU fans. Clobbered them recently, like to see a rematch in 2014 or 15.
2. Auburn fans. Actually looking at the last 10 years and he money paid to the Newton family that brief window has closed
3. Stanford fans.

The rest of you are pissing and moaning.

And you could have very easily added Boise to that list:gaah:.

Can you blame them for being excited about their football program?! Look at what they done recently with the record, conference titles, BCS bowl wins (as in multiple), offense, recruits, facilities, etc. They have a right to be proud and excited by all that. Anyone who says anything to the contrary is simply a jealous player hater.

Could have. But this isn't about defending BSU from some knuckle dragger from the SEC. This was about defending the Northwest...Just remember that.

:lol:You know what I mean!! Oregon has no Heisman's and no NC's, so they don't have those trophies to "WOW" a recruit with!!

Let me ask you would you rather keep landing top 25 recruiting classes and have the seasons that Michigan has been having or would you rather do what oregon has been and landing top 25 classes and a few outside of that by have the seasons Oregon has been turning in?

Zero nation is running on a high and everyone understands it. Best time in your schools history to be a football fan. Most of these guys are right though. As soon as you do have a down year or two the bling will not be enough to reach back to where you are. The difference between where Oregon is and where USC is and even the middle of the Pac like UW is 2-3 recruits a year? There are no teams in history that I'm aware of that come from a small market and no history to reaching the top 10 and stay there even after a down cycle. For all of the talk about the facilities there it is still fucking Eugene and I wouldn't wish that shit hole on my worst enemy. As soon as the shine on that turd wears off even a little those recruits are going to wake up and realize how silly it is to go there and the universe will right itself. Sure, most of those recruits are going to end up at USC or possibly one of the other top 10 teams and not UW. Won't matter much because the damage will be done and you will slide back to the miserable small market team you have always been.

Other than that, great looking facility!
