My point, I don't care about paying him at this point, he's a sunk cost, and I certainly don't want him "finding it" somewhere else

True. And putting him on the 60-day DL might just force the issue. He's not coming back. Am sure he'd prefer to end his career on a more positive way than wandering out the back door when he fails to progress while on the 60day.

I thought Berkman would be a good move ... but those who had questions about his injury history were right.

I'm not trying to get too far ahead but I still think we have a good chance of winning the division. We have 9 games left with the A's and with the exception of Oakland we only have 2 series left with teams above .500

Good point and when we play Oak they no longer have Grimm and Tepesch to beat up on.

Wednesday lineup: Martin cf, Andrus, ss, Kinsler 2b, A. Beltre 3b, Pierzynski dh, Cruz rf, Murphy lf, Soto c, Moreland 1b, Perez p.

Without intending to ignite a firestorm ... is it good baseball to be using both AJ and Soto every night without a third catcher on the roster?

If it turns out that the current setup is winning games ... it might be wise to swap out someone on the roster for Chirinos to protect the current lineup.

I know who I would pick ... but doubt that happens. So does TEX management just cross its fingers and hope all works out ... or do they move E. Beltre back to AAA for the duration of Soto's hot streak?

Toronto playing them tough. Already worked through the top of the order. As long as the Jays have good arms left their chances are good.

It is a gamble. If Soto goes out of a game for injury, AJ moves to catcher and we lose the DH spot. Also, PH option for Soto is not there. If we call up Chirinos that means either E. Beltre or Profar goes back to AAA or we short sheet the BP.

my first thought when I saw him swing the bat...that is going to earn someone a plunk. Though it will probably be Ian. Angels LOVE to hit Ian.

Everyone seems to love to hit Ian, I think he has the most HBP, then again, he won't exactly move out of the way if he's going to get a base. Not too long ago he was hit in the upper arm and when I saw the replay, I thought "what the hell Ian, how were you sure that wasn't going to hit you higher?"

He literally didn't even flinch, part of the reason I love the guy, he's a 100% gamer

Gentry same way with the HBP, doesn't move out of the way
Could be interesting, they hit Martin or someone else then we'll get, possibly a warning (no retaliation) and won't be able to throw back, which is fine with me....no free bases for the Angels.
I know, baseball blasphemy

Great to see Toronto beating the A's, takes a little sting out of our poor showing against them...
to put it mildly
