As long as Michael Vick is there Dixon will continue to develop really good clipboard holding skills.

Nothing wrong with that position......but as I said, I'll take the guy that doesn't lose in bowl games, and was better statistically. Tebow was a great player. But he was no VY.

Hell, I'd take Cam Newton over Tebow as well, if we're talking a ONE game scenario.

Dude, Tebow lost one bowl game on a Florida team that was extremely young and was replacing a ton of players from the 06 title team. Stop acting like he choked or something. That Michigan team was full of seniors and, for the first time all season, fully healthy.

VY was shutout against an Oklahoma team that several other Big XII teams were able to get to (Oklahoma State, Kansas State and A&M averaged 30 ppg in their 3 matchups). He also was a liability in 04 in Big XII play quite a bit - his games against Oklahoma, Kansas (WTF), Missouri, and A&M were atrocious!

Career:
VY - 38 TD, 21 INT
Tebow: 88 TD, 16 INT

His overall stats blew away VY, and it's not even close.

He also played a lot more games, as you yourself have already pointed out.

Once again, this is about a ONE GAME scenario. In that scenario, VY's track record is better, there really is no debate on that.

VY didn't lose at home to an unranked team......he didn't lose a bowl game. And he had arguably one of the greatest performances in a NCG ever.

Tebow is a great player. But in this SPECIFIC scenario, VY is a better choice. You're free to take Tebow. VY will still be the better choice.

The fact that Young was a liability several times makes me hesitant. Football is a team game and that one game you point out (Ole Miss), Tebow still had a great game (3 TDs, no turnovers). I'd take that over a QB that had several wins DESPITE him, like VY had all over the place in 2004. Tebow had several more starts, yet several less turnovers, playing against much tougher defenses. What does that say?

It doesn't say anything. VY won those games, period. And the 04 VY was not the 05 VY.

And when the lights were the brightest, he delivered. He was nigh unstoppable in his bowl games.

You can hesitate, that's fine. If Tebow is your choice, thats fine.

IMO its a poor choice when you have VY and Newton at the table.

And lets be honest here, its probably one of the main reasons VY ranks ahead of Tebow in this particular site's rankings. I've seen others with him ahead of Tebow as well.

Damn. Dorsey lost 1 game his entire career and doesn't make the top 10. Also, that one loss was highly suspect. Methinks this list takes nfl play into account.

Agreed. I thought the list was pretty good but that one stood out. Dorsey was the real deal in cfb - a HELL of alot better than some of those on the list like Sam Bradford. And I am no Miami fan by any means...

34 game winning streak, B2B NCGs, Heisman finalist twice (Crouch, really), O'brien winner. Just sayin.

Bradford only played 2 years. I can see your argument, Crouch was good but those Miami teams were loaded.

Nobody ever knocks usc qbs for playing on loaded offenses. Most of his lack of respect comes from his lack of size, I believe. The guy was flat out brilliant tho. Class of 13 um hall of fame!

Vick's only played an entire 16 game schedule once in his career.

What about NFL careers? This is how I would classify:

Really Good
D Brees, Eli Manning, B Roethlisberger, A Rodgers

Proven
M Vick, Phil Rivers, Matt Ryan, Alex Smith (close call)

Unproven Level A
A Luck, RG3, S Bradford, Russ Wilson, C Kaepernick, C Newton, A Dalton

Unproven Level B
T Tebow, B Weeden

Unproven Level C
Kellen Moore, C Keenum, Chase Daniel, G Harrell

Meh/no-go
C Weinke, V Young, M Leinart, C McCoy, Pat White, J Heupel, Ken Dorsey, C Leak,Brad Smith (played some wildcat, WR), E Crouch, Troy Smith, David Greene, Joe Hamilton, Randle El (no-go as a QB), Dan LeFevour, Todd Reesing, Chad Pennington, Jason White (never made squad, btw), Joey Harrington, Brian Johnson (never signed)

I'd say all of your unproven level A are indeed proven. I'd taken most of that list over most "proven" on your list. I"m sure Alex Smith likely agrees

They've all played 1-3 years. No way any of them are proven as far as careers go.
