Good idea. Steve Martin's my favorite of all-time and I still haven't seen it before. I need to get to it because I know it's famous. I've seen parts of it.

Have you seen "The Jerk"? I think there are parts of it you'd like.

No, I have not seen "The Jerk".

"Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" is on Netflix (not my account, but I have access :) ), so I'm going to try the Tivo Netflix app. Hopefully that works.

If not, then PC-->HDMI-->TV.

Ok, I got the YouTube app for Tivo to work. Obviously I watched the movie yesterday, but I just wanted to get it to work so I could use it in the future. I wanted to get comfortable using the controls in the YouTube app for the Tivo.

Conversation on battery

There was a question in my torts class that talked about a hypothetical where a man and a woman with a dog on her leash were approaching an intersection. The woman stops with the dog because the yellow light came on and the guy wants to run to make it through the light. He trips over the leash. Infuriated, he turns and kicks the dog. He's guilty of battery because since the leash is being held by the woman, it's an extension of her person, and therefore he's liable for kicking her dog. If her dog were off leash, the court would just say that battery is only available to humans. He would then have to be guilty of something else like dog abuse or something like emotional harm to the woman or something. The kicker could also be guilty of trespass to chattels - trespassing property, as the dog is property. This is from my professor, not from me.

Thanks.

What does trespassing a dog mean? Is that similar to assault where one is threatening a person (but a dog in this case)?

Trespass is touching someone else's land without permission. Kicking their property is trespass to personal property (chattels). Personal property is different than real property (land).

This next one is not a holiday Christmas movie and not fit for kids, but I liked Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Starting now.

I know you said you have Castle on a Cloud, but if you haven't seen Les Miserables, you should. See this one first, it's shorter than the movie, but better singing. If you do see it and have any questions, let me know, I can answer them.

One thing I liked about "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" was that it had a good plot.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, on the other hand, was more like a movie with comedic scenes with a loose plot intertwining them.

Where did you see it? Netflix, borrowed? I still haven't seen it, just parts and people have told me it's good - and Steve Martin's my favorite so I can't believe I haven't gotten myself to see it.

The opening running scene where they are trying to get the taxi (Steve Martin and Kevin Bacon), the music sounds like Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson.

You're a thief.

Close, an attorney.

I know that should make me upset, but it doesn't. Maybe when I'm working a lot I'll associate more with them.

Yes.

I used the Netflix app on the Tivo too, for the first time, instead of doing PC-->HDMI-->TV.

It takes a little longer using a TV remote to search for the movie.

And I don't think the fast-forward and rewind functions are as easy to control as they would be on the Netflix web application.

But I just want to try and get used to the Netflix app on the Tivo, because if I have a different living arrangement where the PC isn't near the TV, then I'll have to start using the YouTube, Netflix, or Amazon Instant Prime apps then anyways. Might as well try and get used to them now.

I think I thought the YouTube app was a little easier to control for FF and REW, but that was also a week ago, so I might not remember the best anymore. I used the YouTube app on the Tivo to watch What About Bob.

It's ok. I'll have vulgar words to describe you, even before you start working a lot.

What's wrong with wanting all your money, spending time in court, and not getting what you want? Does it have to always be all about you? You, the client, brought me the problem and asked me to fix it, not me. ;)
