Do I even want to continue to be a Bruins fan?

It is a hard decision to be honest. Not because of the owner but I became a Bruins fan when Bobby Orr came to town and, before that sorry cocksucker even owned the team, and you all know how I feel about Orr. I stood by them through thick and thin, even as they lost the cup multiple times, but now I feel betrayed knowing Jacobs has done whatever he could to destroy the game we all love in the name of the all mighty dollar (even that fake Canadian stuff :D). I knew about his ribbing Cam but we had just won the cup and the euphoria was fresh. So come on peeps, tell me why I should root for your team. Philly and Buffalo are current front runners but where there are so many really cool fans on here, I'm open to suggestions aka bribery (SF may have a leg up on you guys there )

Everyone was an Orr fan my friend, it's a weird situation for sure. I wonder how the players feel about playing for him? They have to know what this dude is about. Maybe when hockey returns players will not sign long term contracts with the B's for this reason. Anyway, you know you'd fit right in with the Flyer fanclub, we are some dedicated partying MF'ers, and contrary to what Wings fans say, there are some great fans and games in Colorado plus that it may make you want to leave the East coast for lands unknown to start a new fresh life rooting for a whole new team. Oh and plus that, did I mention we legalized weed. Shit that's got to be the icing right there my friend!

I wish snider would take the gloves off already and threaten to not televise any nhl games during the contract term the NHL signed with NBC. This shit is getting ridiculous. Jacobs needs to be de-throned and quick.

I'll kick the fucker in the nut sack with some rusty skates.

If a bad owner makes you question your team allegiance than I am not sure how good of a fan you are to begin with. I understand if he is shopping the team to other cities or something but if he is just an ass or inept, well lots of teams have owners like that. Like the team, not the owner.

I was about to post something similar. I don't think a douchebag owner should make you switch teams. Especially since most teams are likely being represented these days by some form of douchebagery either at the owner level or the player level or both.

I'm also not sure why the article failed to mention anything about beer and pretzel sales.

BTW I know you are a good fan and did not mean to suggest otherwise, my intention was more to tell you to enjoy the team* and not worry about what the owner said or did.

*sometime in the next 20 years they should be back

My team has had some bad owners to put it mildly. Heck Disney is going to air a 30 for 30 on John Spano. That ought to be fun TV.:L

I understand Beantown's position. What Jacobs is doing is detrimental to the league. We won't know for sure what impact this lockout will have on the league right away, but I think there are several teams that will be severely damaged by it. If he wants to change teams it's his choice. It's certainly a difficult decision & one he obviously isn't taking lightly.

I am sure he isn't and I certainly agree its his decision. Its just in this case what Jacobs is said to be doing (do any of us really know?) is against the players as well and some of those players are Bruins. So because the owner is purportedly doing something he disagrees with hes going to turn his back on the team and the players that actually are the actual product that he has followed and cared for? I guess I could understand more if the owner and the Bruins players were on the same side on some issue that bothered a fan, but that's not the case.

As always though, besides goofing around I rarely fault anyone for switching teams - following sports is supposed to be fun, and if it stops being fun* then I understand making a change.

*like the NHL now

one could argue that murdering the league is far worse than shopping the team though

and how can we rule out the french Connection?

Because they played in Buffalo.

I have a hard time believing that this is just Jacobs. If 29+ (because of ownership teams) other grown ass men who have held power most of their lives cowtow to ONE owner, than they are pussies and we deserve a lockout. This smells to me like there are other owners with a lot of power out there that are just fine letting Jacobs play the villain, all the while enjoying being a faceless, nameless bad guy.

As for BTM, I'd recommend still rooting for the Bruins, but not supporting them. Don't go to any games, don't buy any merchandise and if you can go watch the game at a bar (so as to limit the amount of TV ratings they get). Root for the laundry, not the sometimes douchebags who own the team or play on the team. Just my suggestion, obviously, you can do whatever the hell you want.
