I have a hard time believing that this is just Jacobs. If 29+ (because of ownership teams) other grown ass men who have held power most of their lives cowtow to ONE owner, than they are pussies and we deserve a lockout. This smells to me like there are other owners with a lot of power out there that are just fine letting Jacobs play the villain, all the while enjoying being a faceless, nameless bad guy.

I still find it suspicious how when the public opinion of Snider went south, suddenly there were all these stories about how he's old school and fighting hard to get a deal done and wants hockey back as bad as we all do and how he loves kittens and cotton candy and everything.

When we've reached the PR battle, shit is beyond repair.

I would guess much like everything else, it's a 10-80-10 split.

10% on one extreme
10% on the other
Everyone else somewhere in the middle.

And like in politics, only the extremes seem to get heard.

And only one has been solidly in one camp the whole time. Another was, but has a PR machine going 24/7 convincing us all he's an angel.

100% agreed. There's no way, in my mind, that one owner out of 30 is creating a lockout. I'm sure that one owner has a lot of pull, but there's just no way it's only Jacobs.

Jacobs is getting a ton of help from Craig Leipold...I think Leipold picks up Gary's dry cleaning and drives him to the airport.

If a bad owner makes you question your team allegiance than I am not sure how good of a fan you are to begin with. I understand if he is shopping the team to other cities or something but if he is just an ass or inept, well lots of teams have owners like that. Like the team, not the owner.

I was about to post something similar. I don't think a douchebag owner should make you switch teams. Especially since most teams are likely being represented these days by some form of douchebagery either at the owner level or the player level or both.

It has nothing to do with Jacobs being a tight wad douchebag cocksucker all these years. I've remained faithful even when he traded Adam Oates for speaking out about his tight fisted ways, and when Bourque requested a trade to a contending team so he could have a chance at a cup because Jacobs was so cheap. It is because of what Jacobs has/is/might be doing to the league. That cheap dickhead is in the forefront of this lockout, the last lockout which cost us fans an entire season, and the previous lockouts under the Bettman rule. I'm done supporting an owner who doesn't care about the fans of his team or the league itself. That selfish prick cares only about the almighty dollar which he's made many many millions of from the suckers like me. Also, whether or not I change which team I cheer from is my decision and I could give a rats ass who questions my loyalty to the Bruins. Take a good look at what Jacobs has done and try to tell me I haven't been loyal.

As for BTM, I'd recommend still rooting for the Bruins, but not supporting them. Don't go to any games, don't buy any merchandise and if you can go watch the game at a bar (so as to limit the amount of TV ratings they get). Root for the laundry, not the sometimes douchebags who own the team or play on the team. Just my suggestion, obviously, you can do whatever the hell you want.

When that cocksucker Jacobs either sells the team (which will never happen) or his dead ass is rotting in hell, I'll cheer for my beloved Bruins again. What's the sense of rooting for them if I don't go to games out of protest? That in itself ruins it for me.

This!!!!! Or better yet, tell the NHL to fuck off and start a new league with their 24 teams or so. Jacobs may not be the ONLY owner playing hardball but he's definitely the leader of the pack and always tries to bully the other owners. From what I understand, the owner of the Flyers despises Jacobs.

It's funny you mention not going out of protest. My dear dad does just that with the Pirates. He's been a fan long enough to see Ralph Kiner enjoy being the HR king of his era, watched Clemente as a young rule 5 addition grow into one of the best ever to play the game, etc...

He's a lifelong fan... but, he won't spend a cent on his favorite sports team. It makes him feel better about the situation, so I say more power to him. At some point, much like Jacobs in Boston, ownership will change due to time. When that day happens for the pirates, my dad will be back in the stands. He is still just as informed about them as the next passionate fan, he just won't give them his money. And even though the pirates are making records for the wrong reasons, he still enjoys watching them play.

that alone is reason enough to be come a Flyer's fan.Snider also had issues with Wirtz(Chicago's owner, before his passing)about how he handled his lack of a tv contract in one of the strongest markets. When your team is 1 of the leading money makers, you'll always have concerns and comments about how the other guys take care of business, and treats its fans.
