For some Wash getting credit is like Jerry getting credit for the SB wins. I like most of the posters here (all but one and that one is obvious), but it annoys me when people can say someone is responsible for all the bad, but the good was either luck or someone else.

i thought we were cool fordman, but if you wanna be a dick about it ;)

MY should only hit against lefties! Olt should be playing against all righties! This is a great move if Olt actually plays. He can give Beltre a day off and platoon at DH or first base. What this also means is Napoli is a full time catcher and will probably only get a start at first base a time or two. Wasn't Snyder our emergency catcher making it unlikely to have two catchers playing in the same game.

This is a good point that I had thought about as well

I think Soto gets about 2-3 games behind the plate a week

And Napoli COULD play 1B if something came up, and swap Naps to C and we have plenty of guys that can play 1B

Am thinking since Napoli is going to get more games a week that Wash actually rests him and doesn't run him out there to 1b. Definitely means his days as DH are over though.

I agree, just stating its still possible but unlikely

Both have been lefty killers in the past, just need to figure out who its going to be for now, b/c neither have really done so this year

I understand that Olt has played mostly at 3B. Although outstanding defensively, how risky is it to play him at 1B?

Not very, he's played there, he's got most of the sublties of playing 1B down now by now

He's certainly not going to be any worse than Michael Young at those things

And he has better reactionary skills and range

"More from Wash on Olt: "We certainly didn't bring him up here to sit around and wait around.""

That's what I thought when Martin came up but he still didn't get the playing time. It's good because because now they won't have break Olt, Martin, and Profar in at the same time next year. It will just be Profar being broken in if he's not already up with the club for the playoffs.

It's crazy to think that we'll be a playoff team this year and could basically have 3 rookies in our lineup along with some young guys pitching for us. Olt, Profar, and Martin, Scheppers, Ross, and Perez pitching. Gotta keep turning over the old guys!

Yeah. This team is going to be getting old very quick if we're not careful. Thus the reason JD wouldnt turn loose of Olt or Profar and frankly Martin. Those guys should be big players in the next year or two.

Doubt we see Profar before September ... or Martin again until then baring an OF injury.

Very nice first night for Olt. I imagine we are going to see Wash using him in a variety of starts at 1b and 3b ... and perhaps even DH to give him regular ABs.

With 6 SPs already on the roster (depending on how you count Feldman and Oswalt) doubt there is room for Perez on the playoff roster. As soon as either Uehara or Lowe return then Scheppers will probably be sent down until September too.

The young guys do bring some real excitement for the future and in the case of Ross for sure will contribute to the end result in 2012.

Really like Scheppers. Has a Great Arm. Big Part of the Rangers Future. Got off to a rough start. but recently has pitched very well in Key spots. Even picked up a Save.

Reference PADMY's error last night ...

MY is now on an island. Only place we may see him in the field through the rest of his career is likely at 2b where he started in the beginning of his TEX career.

Moreland and Olt platoon at 1b so that option is more or less closed.

Only other option is if Beltre needs a day off in the field and the opposition pitcher just happens to be a tough LHP ... then Olt would play 3b for Beltre and MY might play 1b.

All in all though ... seeing PADMY at 3b is probably not going to happen again. And 1b only very limited.

Mark Lowe certainly has more experience and is Lights Out when He is on. Fastball in the Upper 90's. But Lowe has been erratic and has never put it all together. Kirkman is another Pitcher who is in and out. If Scheppers, Lowe, and Kirkman can all take the next step what a Bullpen the Rangers would have going then.

... yea but he's no Mark Lowe.

He's not, that 5.40 ERA and 1.64 WHIP are evidence of that, his 1.96 HR/9 is bad even by Lowe's "standards"

But he's certainly got a future, think this was a good learning experience for him

I didn't reread what I wrote. What I meant to say is we'll be a playoff team this year and have basically 3 rookies in our lineup next year. That's what I was trying to say.
