A hockey team in Brooklyn doesn't have disaster written all over it. Oh wait, yes it does.

First, Seattle and Vegas hockey fans will be crushed. Second, I'm glad they're finally moving Phoenix, but do 4 hockey teams in a non-hockey town really make sense. Lastly, gonna be a little awkward re-naming them the same as a team just up the road.

Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark on 14,500 capacity for hockey: "It is not how many seats you have, but how many you sell."

So that was Mr. Young's plan all along - to get a team in a town in North Ontario?

FIFY. Too far south of the GTA could have an effect on the Sabres fans in southern Ontario.

Give Seattle some love! They've wanted a team forever. It would also give the Canucks a rival within Grey Hound distance.

PS: Post 2k!

Congrats on 2000!

Seattle would be a good city for a team but don't they have issues with funding for an arena? Seems like the voters up there want it to be all private money and you would think with all of the money up there that wouldn't be a problem but the big shots at all of the hi tech companies must not be hockey fans.

The key is finding a good ownership group. From there an arena process can begin. What happened to the Sonics arena?

So we agree that Seattle should have a team then?

I still think they are a real fairweather sports town that gloms on to the fashionable/hip team but they have a guy who wants to put up a lot of the money to build that arena (not near the space needle btw lol) and they want an NHL team as a tenant ... soooooooooooo .... bring on the cascadia rivalry

/interesting to see how seattle city council cautiously approaches this as opposed to Glendales reckless and rudderless leadership

The Islanders are lucky if they get 12,000 fans per game anyway. At least the building won't look as empty. Time is running out. Brooklyn is Wang's last resort option. It's sad that it's come to this, but the political climate in L.I. & the financial situation of the country have made it virtually impossible for Wang to get a new arena built.

Do you know how many over the glass delay of game penalties would be called there?

True, but Kyle Wellwood would be back to the "weight" on his rookie card.
