just looking at the 2011 ticket numbers ... for the Isles to go from 20th in average ticket price to 5th > theyd have to increase their average ticket price 39%
no problemo!
especially if we lose a season
amaright?
The Brooklyn Nets move across the Hudson River from New Jersey has created a 189 percent spike in average ticket prices so far this year on Ticket Liquidator, a leading secondary ticket marketplace. New Jersey Nets tickets sold on Ticket Liquidator last season averaged $50.58; this season Brooklyn Nets ticket prices have averaged $146.17.
The Brooklyn Nets skyrocketed to the fifth-highest average ticket price this season, behind only the Los Angeles Lakers at $250.27; the Los Angeles Clippers at $223.52; the New York Knicks at $183.63; and the Miami Heat at $182.39.
so is this 100%? or just another threat? how far is brooklyn from Long Island? I guess with the low season tickets its not terrible to start new
It's probably a half hour give or take from where they were. More importantly they just became a 10 min subway ride from Manahattan as opposed to a 30+ min drive out to Long Island.
thanks. I also just read this. lots of Rangers fans will be going to those games even more.

It's 28 Miles from Nassau Coliseum to Barclays Center.Big question is whether or not fans in Nassau and Suffolk County will make the drive.
Hopefully, they will change the team name, the New York Islanders are a storied NHL franchise and the name 'Islanders' should be retired.
May not be as crazy as you think...
Atlantic Yards Report: Brooklyn Nets ticket prices nearly triple on secondary market compared to Newark
New York Wangs?
If I had to guess, I would imagine in the next 2 decades or so new subway lines and transfer spots will be created to make the arena as accessible as possible. But I would say the move to Newark helped the Devils with attendance mainly because it makes it easier for the casual fan to get there. The diehards will find a way to get there so making it convenient for the fairweather types is what it's all about.
Isnt Barclays built over a train/metro/subway hub? I heard there is a train that arrives at the arena from Long Island

I don't see any real need to change the name. Maybe peeps don't remember 4th grade geography that well, but Brooklyn is part of Long Island.
Why change the name and/or logo?
