A native New Yorker once told me in New York if you aren't scaming someone they're scaming you.

That's kind of a sad perspective on life.

I thought so. Having never been to New York I have no idea whether or not it's true. I certainly hope not. I asked him at the time & he just shrugged & said that's the way it is.

That's true pretty much anywhere... However it all comes down to who you associate with and how much common sense you have. It is hard to be "scammed" when you analyze situations and don't rush to conclusions.

But yes, there are a shit ton of "scammers" in NYC, no doubt. But I'd say that is primarily in the City, not NY as a whole.

Why does the rink have to be offset like that? I understand it was designed for basketball, but the basketball court isn't offset too, is it?

No as others have already stated, the basketball court is much smaller than a hockey rink. The Barclays Center was actually designed to keep hockey out. This is exactly the same issue with Key Arena in Seattle and the reason why the NHL won't go there until the new arena is built. The fact that Wang is moving the Islanders into this building shows just how dire a situation this was. It was either move the Islanders into a building not designed for hockey or leave. I'm glad the Islanders are staying, but I do wish they could have worked out something more favorable.
