I'm glad the name and logo are staying the same. But if they were to change it then they should call them the Brooklyn Brawlers.

:pizza:

/Would the jersey have a bunch of rips and holes? Could be kinda chilly.

i didnt see a post on it, how are you with this happening? does it affect you either way?

I think this is a great move for the franchise long term. Under the circumstances Wang did the best he could for the team. He wanted to keep the team in the area & he did just that. Nassau County was no longer an option.

The move has zero affect for me because I don't live anywhere near New York. However, I'm happy for all the fans in L.I., Brooklyn & the surrounding area because the team is staying put & they're going to get a chance to see their team for many years to come.

well that may be, i'm just saying the guy has no creative skills..

I laughed at this one a little... because for a guy with no creative skills, he's made a shitload of money as a musician and fashion designer.

good point

@dtolensky
Crazy that you can WALK from one NHL arena (MSG) to another (Barclays) in under two hours but Hamilton is too close to Toronto for a team.

I don't know much about the New York area, but it's the same general area, so it's a day for Isles fans to rejoice. They still have access to their team.

I don't see any real need to change the name. Maybe peeps don't remember 4th grade geography that well, but Brooklyn is part of Long Island.

Why change the name and/or logo?

New York is many things. It is a center for culture and arts and fucking annoying sports teams. It is one of the biggest and best cities in the world.

That said, it is nowhere NEAR important enough to have geography lessons devoted to it. Though I'm sure the people who live there might disagree, the arrogant pricks.

The Islanders Are Leaving Their Crappy Arena For A Crappy Hockey Arena

The Barclays Center, though, isn't a good place for hockey. The Islanders' current home has a capacity of 16,250 for hockey, making it the second-smallest arena in the NHL. Their new home will be smaller.

The Barclays Center was designed for basketball, so its hockey arrangement is kind of funky. The ice will be shifted towards one end, with very minimal seating on that side of the arena. Because of that, Barclays will seat only 14,500 fans, making it smaller than Winnipeg's MTS Centre, which was designed for a minor-league team.
