The Grizzlies are really lucky Jackson barely missed all nba, they would have had real problems if he qualified for the super max.

For now, sure. Going to be in the 2nd apron soon, probably 26-27, like the Cavs are for their first season but that is just something a lot teams have to plan. Problem is if you can't get over that hump, what is the plan of action. If CLE doesn't get out of the 2nd this year their could be BIG changes...and it's not necessarily their fault. Gotta stay healthy

Hopefully these crazy prices will reduce the number of supermax players in the league. Everyone knows there are guys making the same money as others that aren’t worth nearly as much.

Realistically there should be only be around 10 guys making supermax but unfortunately that will never happen.

Right now (through 24-25 season) below are the supermax players and currently in a supermax contract. Does not include guys like Russ who did previously.
  • Jaylen Brown He signed a five-year supermax contract in 2023.
  • Nikola Jokic Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2022.
  • Devin Booker Signed a four-year supermax extension in 2022.
  • Karl-Anthony Towns Signed a four-year supermax extension in 2022.
  • Stephen Curry Signed a four-year supermax deal in 2021.
  • Joel Embiid Signed a four-year supermax contract in 2021.
  • Bradley Beal Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2022.
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2020.
  • Luka Dončić Signed a five-year supermax deal in 2021.
  • Damian Lillard Signed a four-year supermax deal in 2019.
  • Rudy Gobert Signed a five-year supermax extension in 2020.
  • Jamal Murray - signed in 2024
  • Bam Adebayo - eligible
  • Zach LaVine - Signed in 2022
  • Pascal Siakam - signed with Indy

Shai is eligible this summer, going to be the highest paid player in the league, for a few weeks at least

I thought he was included in that top list so that could be around 19 guys making supermax or eligible very soon.

Golbert isnt on a supermax any longer. His percentage is about 22% of the cap. A supermax is 35%.

He had a player option in the final year of his supermax and he negotiated down from $47M a year down to $35M this year which would have been the final year of his supermax deal with Utah.

How much more do the Knicks need to win the east, let alone a title

Well that makes his situation slightly easier to stomach, but not much.
