How the hell does will johnson fall and why did we not grab him?!
I really thought he would be the pick when he was still there, especially since all the healthy DTs were gone already. Even Connerly was there if we wanted him and went the very next pick.

Yeah, didn't see that one coming.

I'm not even a Michigan guy like some that are always trying to get us to pick U of M guys. But there's gotta be more to it, Johnson should have been an easy pick. Unless you were trying to decide on him vs some of the edge rushers.

I'm not sure Williams was even the 3rd best player still on the board at a position of need from his own school.

Either they see something I don't see in him, or Alim McNeal is more injured than we have heard.
Scouts love him but writers hate him. Thats why most fans dont think much of him. Mostly because they think sacks are more important than controlling the entire line of scrimmage. Teams will have to change their game plans because of him. Wherever he is they will have to run the other way. He was not my first choice but he definetely adds something we need. Reader was a disappointment vs the run last year as was every DT on out team. The line looked anemic without Alim.

Homes said he reminded him of Alim, so if he can improve his passrush game the same way then having 2 Alims would be awesome.

For now he controls the line scrimmage, which is great, but that is what most of the current oline does well, but we have very few that disrupt the backfield. By very few I mean 1.

I am sure the kid will be great, I just would have loved to improve a weakness instead of fortifying a strength.

I think the second will be JT Tuilomoala, who can set an edge, but has no passrush.

I sound more upset than I am with those posts. The pick is solid.

I am not surprised they passed on Green and Pearce. Character red flags they avoid, it's the medical ones they love so much.

Same here. If there was 1 injured guy I would have taken it would have been Josh Simmons. He could go through the motions year 1 and easily take over for Decker when he is healthy. He would have been the top OT in the draft if he was IMO.

As long as he didn't give away a high 3rd that turns into a 10-yr starting OG to move up 5 spots before taking Williams, Holmes did a lot better than last year.

Most of our D-line only have 1 year left so would not surprise me if we went there. I like Landon Jackson. He can do it all although still a little raw IMO. Jordan Birch will do in a pinch. I dont really like the skinny guys.

OT Anthony Belton in the 3rd would be nice too. Big enough to play guard too.

We will need a safety. Emmanuori will not last to us but X Watts will be in the mix.

Would have preffered Milum, but Holmes has shown he is a better drafter than me. Either way I hate the trade up.

3 3rd round picks to take a guy with zero production that had a good combine. I don't even give Holmes benefit of the doubt on that, that is a pure shit pick.

Best as a big slot, St. Brown is not moving out of the slot.

We traded a lot for a receiver from Hillsdale.
We traded up twice to draft players that would have been there anyway. I have no idea why Holmes always hates next years draft.

I can say the WR is an absolute athletic freak, but it never lead to any type of production

Gave up our 4th rounder to move up 3 spots.
As much as I dont like what we gave up I think the O-line prospects were running out fast. This one I can accept and pails in comparison to the next one.

As much as I want to give them the benefit of the doubt this one seems ridiculous to me. I doubt anyone was planning on drafting this kid in the 3rd or even 4th round. We could have drafted X Watts and then him in the 4th and still have our 3rd rounders next year. We have zero depth at safety now. Maybe they move Rakestraw to safety. He has been a slot CB anyway.

Holmes still has an eye for talent, but he's now closer to Millen than the guy who drafted in 2021. It's a shame.

Holmes deserves the benefit of the doubt, I have not liked this draft, but he has proven to be o e of the best at it. I doubt he just lost that.

Frazier in the 5th is an absolute steal. We need to hope one of Ratlidge, Mahogany, or Frazier can slide into center in a few years.
