So draft is almost here already. I got nothing.

I am just happy we dont have glaring weaknesses that we have to fill.

I have no idea what could happen in this. I am hoping that pick 28 goes for Hendrickson and some change. Even when Lions had holes all over Holmes always drafted his board, not position. I have strong opinions on a few players in this draft, but even if the Lions end up with a player I am not a fan of, Holmes has earned the benefit of the doubt.

We can guarantee that Holmes will trade into the mid-round of the draft with a pick from a higher round next year. He will spend that pick on a massive project. And I will spend the next 4 years convincing myself that this is the year we see dividends on that pick! GO MANU!

I think if we cant draft an edge player we might go after that Dolphins guy Ogbah? in FA. If Gray Zabel is still there at 28 I would want him. He would be a perfect fit. I think he does not last till then though. Maybe the guard from AL too.

Then just BPA after that. We will need depth everywhere except CB, RB and ST.

There's such parity and potential with this year's edge rusher class. It's hard to decide who i would want to fall to us.

Abdul Carter is going top 5. After that...?

Most have Mike Green from Marshall and Jalon. Walker from Georgia going 2nd and 3rd, and usually no later than 15th ish. Both seem to be more 3-4 OLB types though.

Pearce from Tennesee and Ezeirauku(sp?) From BC both seem undersized, but i think both project as 4-3 DE's still.
Williams of Georgia, Scourton and Stewart from Texas A&M, Sawyer and Tiumaulo from Ohio State, Jackson from Arkansas and I've from Miss all seem to be projected from like picks 20-40 ish in tons of mocks and ranking boards. Each have their own strengths, just depending on what we value most.

I think DE was highlighted as our biggest need, so that's what I expect. Although trade ups make sense to "get our guy" if they like one of those more than others. Trading down makes a ton of sense too with so many guys grouped so tightly in value. Or just staying put and drafting whoever falls to us. It's wide open.

OG also makes a ton of sense. You'd hate having g a weak Guard pull down the strength of what our team is built on. Not positional value, but Holmes has shown he doesn't give a shit about that.

CB is always a need. We lost one and signed one, so really right where we were when the season ended. That counts as a need to me. Especially depending on what the coaches in the building see out of Rakestraw.

WR remains a need. With 3 and 4 wide being so prevalent, and depth and injuries and rotations we could just flat out use at least one more guy who can do something on the field. But we also have a huge HUGE dependency on Jamo Williams. Is anyone confident about that? He's a magnet for bad luck and stupid decisions. And still hasn't really developed as much as we need him too. And he's gonna want big money soon. WR's all seem to take a few years to develop. We could use a guy who's ready to step up when we're done with Williams, instead of being forced to draft a rookie and hope he's ready right away.

I just see a lot of possibilities just in the first round alone. It's kind of exciting.
