I think we all WANTED to see a first for both Geno and DK but a 2nd and 3rd are homeruns. Both players will/should return a valuable players with those picks ( fingers crossed ) unless JS totally messes it up, which he very well could.
If I knew Geno was up for trade I'd would have said 3rd rounder at best. He's an average QB that won't get any better and what we got being a 3rd rounder is definitely a home run.

I have always said the first 3 rounds should be instant starters being in the top 100 and having 5 in the top 100 and done right gets this team on track much more quickly than expected with whatever FA's were brought. If JS screws this up than that's a fireable offense.

Back away from the bike damn it! You may need it to taking Nwosu to the airport.

I agree this has been an excellent off-season and finally getting this franchise back in the right direction. Now all we need is JS to spend on one of the top o-line guys in FA and draft best o-line guy 1.18
Ill be surprised if its not a wr or TE in round 1

Not going to be a TE unless they cut Fant and even then don't think they would do that. WR? I could see that now that Metcalf got traded but I don't expect it. QB? Maybe. OL? Good chance. Could be a defensive player. Be interesting when free agency opens to see what positions they fill out.

They can cut him whenever they want, after the draft or in June. I don't think they pass on either of the top two TEs if they are there at 18. Unless a big time WR drops.

I doubt we're taking a tight end. Go EDGE, DL or OL... or QB if you really think your guy is there. And we need a right tackle, I don't trust Lucas to hold up. Wide receiver has some good stuff in the mid rounds.

End of day just keep Fant - we have plenty of cap now. Fant even though the TE was horribly under utilized under Carroll and Grubb, is still a good option, and he'll be 28. He's still good productive years left and he'll be hungry for a new contract. He's an OKAY blocker and he's a downfield threat that Seattle just for God knows whatever reason doesn't want to use... same with Graham. There's zero reason to go draft a tight end.

And Barner did great this year. 4 TDs.. and it would've been 5 if he wasn't held on that crossing pattern (he would've been wide open) when Geno was picked off by I think the Rams. Course the refs missed the flag, lol. The hold on him was clear as day.

Plus we just spent a 1st on JSN... enough with these skill positions.. they don't build contenders. QB, DL, OL... that's what you need. And WRs are available all the time in free agency. Hell, we just traded one. Tyreek was traded, Higgins will be shipped off, AJ Brown, etc. I get you need SOME talent at WR (which we have), but we have FAR bigger needs at FAR more important positions.

I doubt they target a TE in the 1st round... They're going to look for a Dissly type of TE imo that can block as well as make plays when needed... They won't be the in the market for a brock bowers type of TE imo... Wouldn't fit their offensive scheme...

Yeah more mocks will have a WR now that they no longer have 2 of their top 3 WR's. WR is a big need now on this team, there is no looking past it. Could all change if they resign Lockett to a more team friendly contract but even if they do they still need someone it just wont be a HUGE need like it is now.

A nice new bicycle!? That will help dull the pain and anguish if we draft a WR or TE in the 1st round...

in other news Seattle now has the 4th most cap space in the NFL and projected to be #1 in 2026 after dropping almost 70 million in Dead money off the books for the 2026 season.

BTW that almost 70 million in dead cap is almost 25% of their WHOLE cap. Think about that for a moment. They got to build a team with only access to 75% of the money.

I am SO glad they didn't overspend on Geno and DK.

Geno sure, keep him for basically what we gave Darnold.
DK, 3 year $70M extension at most... AT MOST. Even then I'd give that a B grade.

I'm tired of Seattle overspending on mediocre players that aren't gonna do anything. And you got guys that actually need to be extended coming up like Cross/Mafe, etc. And they really need to find another EDGE.. Mafe is getting overused (partly because of the Nwosu injury).

What about signing Cooper Kupp if the Rams release him? We need WR's and i saw NOTHING in Kupps game that said he was done. He wasnt ever a speed guy he is a technical guy with good hands. Resign Lockett to a team friendly deal and pick up Kupp and you have a VERY good WR core again. Yes lol you would need to start thinking about getting some young guys in here also this year or next year.

Could happen, sign Kupp and Lockett for reasonable money.

You know there are two teams that have been using void years a lot lately Seattle and San Fran. Look at the two teams with the most dead money lol. The pitfalls of void years.

Well fortunately the books will be fairly clear after this year, to my knowledge at least. Eagles are using a ton of void years as well. It can work and cap manipulation is key to building a good franchise. San Fran has done well (got bit by injuries last year), Eagles just won the SBOWL, Seattle - everyone thought we'd be a 6 win team last year, almost made the playoffs.

Void years aren't necessarily a bad thing.

Not when you start doing them all the time. Like it or not that bill ALWAYS comes due. Save a headache for now just to get it worse 3 days from now ( or 3 years ) isn't a win win.

If im a GM void years only in emergencies.

There's ways to manipulate it.. like taxes. Screamin, you were the one I believe on this forum saying we had to move on from Geno and we're in cap hell and we can't do anything... well, now even with the Darnold signing we have one of the highest cap spaces in the NFL. All for what? Sacrificing a QB you hated and ditching a bitchy, now injury issue, fumble prone, one dimensional route running WR? Ha.

Yes, void years catch up... and yah, something like what the Browns did with Watson is a bit ridiculous. But it's a tool available, and if you believe your window is now, you go for it and plan a rebuild. Seattle is in a rebuild, and we're cutting ties with void years and resetting, that's fine. And Sam Darnold is hardly a hinderance to any plan. I would not be shocked if Seattle drafts a QB this year and Matt Flynn's Darnold to be honest in 2026.

I actually appreciate Mike to come in this last year, work with what he has, make mid season adjustments (he made some pretty drastic moves on defense), and let it settle in. I would not feel comfortable about a HC coming in and just blowing everything up. WTF? Come in, take a step back, THINK about what you have... see how it plays out, then make your calls. Mike is the epitome of what I want in a head coach right now. He THINKS. Doesn't overreact.
