Game Thread: Week 10: Bears (4-4) vs New England (2-7)

Brisker out again (this is becoming an odd/alarming situation - a month for a concussion?) and Billings out for the season. It appears that Gordon and Sweat will return. There seems to be optimism that one of, or both of the tackles (Jones/Wright) could be back.

To put it bluntly, this team/staff needs to win this game or else there may be actual torches/pitchforks headed for Halas Hall come Monday.

I have no idea where this team is at mentally. No outcome would surprise me here. I could see us handling them with ease, as we did with similarly shitty JAX/CAR. I could also see us playing one HELLUVA ugly game and losing like 16-13 or some shit. Just an utterly grotesque loss late in the game, too. That's how I picture it.

If we win this game, they'll try to rebuild the hype and build a light at the end of the tunnel of us "beating Green Bay and taking back our season". We all know how that goes.

I actually feel like we win, but fuck em'...

A New England loss is where fans will fully give up though. This upcoming week will probably be on par with what we experienced in between Sunday and Thursday before the Washington game that broke the losing streak last season if we lose.

The best case scenario (for everyone) is that he surprises the shit out of us all, stops the spiral, and rights the ship.

Firing Flus right now vs January doesn't change anything. Just some short lived satisfaction for rabid fans. Rarely, has a mid-season firing ever altered a team's course and they make some sort of a run.

I also have REAL bad news for you. Short of a massive scandal or something completely out of the norm - this organization will NEVER fire a HC mid-season. You know how many worse team's we've had and made it to the end of the season? We're 4-4... we've been SO MUCH worse. The final Trestman year, the end of the Wannstedt era, the Fox era...

Flus isn't getting fired for starting 4-5.

The teams we play,they are all legit playoff teams,to where our oline and coaches are keeping us from being one.

Dude...Mike Ditka used to have his own f*cking weekly show that was must watch TV for Bears fans. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have a coach like that in my adult life.

Lovie was likeable and reasonably successful. I don't think many disliked him. I certainly didn't.

Wannstedt/Jauron/Trestman/Nagy/Eberflus...just all bad. Although I am surprised how Wanny has reinvented himself somewhat as a media personality since.

We can only hope we can find a decent coach to go along with our new QB. If Poles doesn't make a move this offseason, he's going to lose the fans. I don't care how much he fleeced the Panthers.

Prior to Sunday morning, the Bears had already ruled out three offensive linemen: Kiran Amegadjie, Braxton Jones, and Darnell Wright. Hours before kickoff, they ruled out another, Nate Davis, who is reportedly dealing with a back injury. That's a massive hit to Williams' protection and a big gift for the Patriots' defense to (hopefully) take advantage of.
