Series Thread: Rangers Visit the Dodgers For Three Games June 11-13

The Rangers will face a very tough test in this series. There are no scheduled starting pitchers for the Rangers, yet. You would think some combination of Gray, Dunning, and Lorenzen will start. I guess Heaney or Urena could figure in instead of Dunning.

It is hard to know what to make of this team. The way some of the starters are pitching I am not sure it .makes much difference if Scherzer comes back in a couple of weeks. It is all up to the hitters.

Max Scherzer's next start will not be in the major leagues.

The three-time Cy Young winner is tentatively scheduled to start Friday for Triple A Round Rock at Dell Diamond, a baseball source said. Plans could change, as Double A Frisco is also home, but the Rangers would like to see Scherzer build on the 53 pitches he threw Sunday over four scoreless innings.

The right-hander walked one and struck out five.

The Rangers want to see Scherzer have similar success while adding 20-plus pitches to his pitch count. Once in the 75- to 80-pitch range, Scherzer could return to the rotation as soon as June 19 at Globe Life Field on normal rest against his former team, the Mets. The Rangers also could wait until June 21 against the Royals.
