I'm glad we let him go and secretly wanted better compensation but given his limited/lazy play, we were lucky to get what we did in return.
I was merely stating what other teams saw from him during his brief stint with the 49'ers. He is not the player we thought he was.

He certainly did not get scooped up quickly like others. He now looks a step slow and his effort is lacking. If we can see that, you don't think other GM's who do this for a living don't see more? He likely gets a year prove it deal somewhere for 6-8m.

I'm not sure you are going to redshirt Jayden or Drake. I'm not sure Mariota comes here to be the emergency QB. Do the Skins really let Howell not get any reps in practice and sit the entire year? Feels like a draft day trade for maybe a 4th. Jmo

Very good points.

Not many starting gigs left though for Mariotta. Less so after the draft.

If its an honest competition then the loser should sit all year if the plan is to carey three qbs.

Howell for a fourth is a steal for a qb needy team. He proved he could play in this league beiind the worst oline in the league.

Any decent oline might help howell prove to be a good nfl starter.
