They just paid Jones...the dead cap on him wouldn't be beneficial to the team. So unlikely he goes there.

They could get out of that relatively cheaply after next season, which would give a bridge season if needed.

I do think it might be obvious that teams need to be doing more during that off time.

Can’t really speak to the deal with the Orioles and Dodgers but for the Braves…the last time that team dealt with any adversity was this time last year when Philly beat them 3-1 in the divisional round. If you don’t have to deal with adversity you aren’t ready for it when it inevitably comes. On top of that, the Braves walked into the playoffs having not played a meaningful game in over 3 weeks. Dodgers never pushed them much down the stretch for home field throughout.
