The scariest part is that if he’s off…he’s not off by much. The landscape today is that he gets slotted in there when it’s his turn. So the decision is : 1) quit and move on or 2) pay the guy 35-45 million per year.

It’s always been bad news to be in between at QB. Now it’s an even more dire condition. Guys like Jones and Dak need plus plus rosters around them to be effective and win big. Yet once they get paid it hurts the cap position and the ability to get that stacked roster.

If I’m Dabol, I move on and take the compensatory pick and then draft a QB.

It may not be entirely up to the coach; but I would move on, as well. He hasn't shown the consistency you would want from a 35MM guy
I think Dabol needs to bet on himself. Shop in the cheaper aisle for a 15-25 mil guy stop gap while he develops a QB. He’s a head coach because of his ability to do wonders with the development of Josh Allen. This in the end is why the G Men hired him IMO.

Danny will be even better next year in year 2 in Daboll's offense. Their WR situation was shit all year and the TE was a rookie. Nothing to work with. You better pay him or you're going backwards. The agent has the leverage which is why he starts the negotiation so high. Giants can protect themselves with the structure of the contract.

I love the QB discussions where everyone determines a guy is too expensive but the don't realistically work through what the other options are.

Giants can let Jones leave.

But then they have to sign a guy like Jacoby Brisett to a $10M deal. Spend their 1st round, 2nd round and likely an early pick in next years draft to get in position to draft a rookie to take over eventually.

And then at that point you just have to cross your fingers that it is not only a better option in the future than Jones....but you have to hope that it all happens soon enough where you win enough games over the next 2 years to keep your job.

Add up what the alternatives are, the chances of the alternatives actually being better than Jones, how old Jones is and his overall experience and that is the reason that the Giants will tag Jones and give him a big ass contract once they can work out the best structure for them and his agent.

Paying any young QB huge money carries risk and Hurts is no exception. All we can hope is that Philly does it as early as possible, because the price will only go up, and that they get the most cap-friendly long-term structure possible to allow them to continue contending for championships. Since Hurts is clearly very focused on winning rings, I suspect that all happens. In terms of his character, I can think of few players who are less of a risk than Jalen Hurts in terms of paying big money and worrying about the consequences on his work ethic, etc. Hurts will work his ass off no matter how much he has in the bank.

The Eagles will extend Hurts because he's a $30M+ player who isn't going to play for $4M. Hurts is a top 6 QB after 2022 so I don't see him getting much better.

:wash:

Curious....what is the difference between Jalen & Dak with this statement besides the stats of last season?
This reminds of your posts about RB playing QB before Hurts was drafted.

There’s more data showing Dak falling short than there is of Hurts.

Dak is definitely an example of a guy who should have been signed earlier than he was, and my jokes about him being a RB were clearly jokes.

As for what is different between him and Hurts, well, Hurts has improved in every single season going back to college. Dak...has not.

Dak improved a lot when he came into the league but he appears to have taken steps back. He led the league in INTs last season despite missing games, tied with a Houston Texans QB, Davis Mills.

No...but thanks for playing
Actually there is. Dak is 2-4 in playoff games. The Cowboys have had him in place as their franchise QB for quite some time and it hasn’t led to anything special.

Or they can sign Jones to be their Derek Carr for the next 7 years,

Thanks...You are correct, both could marry our daughters. Stand up guys. Great Team Leaders!!
The RB "jokes" were very consistent for about three years. I think you were poking the stick; the same one you don't like poked your way. Always good to be the decider in all that back & forth stuff. Seems to be a common denominator among SportsHoopla eagle fans this season.

Dak's season last year was surprising based on 2021. (11-5 with 37-10) No?

Dak was bad last year in key moments...not the same QB with regards to risk throws.
LOL at telling me the Davis Mills part as if I don't follow football. :thumb::thumb: You know what, Dak threw all those picks throwing 100 and even 200 less passes from previous years. This is better than the David Mills comparison. You should remember attempts next time you're trolling the point. Much Funnier.

SO...is the football guy saying Dak is washed or the eagle football fan?
You say Dak last year's int rate becomes the norm even with 5 seasons of less than 2% interception rate?

LOL...we shall see. Hurts always getting better from Jr. High on seems a tad pep squad to me. Maybe just maybe Dallas fans aren't the only obnoxious fans posting here. :suds:
