After the trade for RW and this......you guys have to nail it.

Gave up a lot of picks for the 2 and RW got a lot of guaranteed moolah.
I don’t think the two moves are mutually exclusive. We made the massive trade for Russ - now banking (literally and figuratively) - and now hiring the guy the FO believes can make the first investment work out.

I think he needs to round out at least the top end of his assistant staff before they decide what kind of personnel changes they ’ll make. No?
Yeah I was just getting a jump on the question

Hopefully he can turn Russ around. If so, that team should be very competitive.

I would love to hear from a Saints fans on Payton. Harbaugh to me was my #1 and #2 choice because I thought he is the best team builder. Fans are so focused on O but, this roster needs A LOT of work. Is Payton a team builder that Harbaugh is? I hope some diehard Saints fans chime in on this I'm curious.

Paton has his work cut out for him to keep the defensive roster strong while fixing problems at OL. I'll be curious to find out who is brought in to coach OL and what their current assessment of the talent already on the roster. Rosberg fired the last OL coach without even batting an eye.

Really happy about this. Ends up being

Chubb and A 2nd for Payton and a 3rd.

When you suck for 7 years I guess these are the things you gotta do.

The goal is to have that 2nd and 3rd be picks 64 and 65. Think about it.

I used to live in Nola so I know a lot of Saints fans, but they are by in large the least knowledgeable NFL fans that I know. They love their Saint's passionately but don't follow the league as a whole at all as Nola is a bubble world if there ever was one. I know one exception to that and I spoke with him last night. He thinks the Saints are in the tank without Payton and Brees and that they were both the glue that held it together. If you look at Payton's record even without Brees his record is pretty good, getting good play out of Bridgewater, Jameis and others. He didn't have great defenses throughout though and that stung, but he never sat back on that aspect either as he tried to get big name D coordinators in with Williams and others and made aggressive moves to improve the D, but a lot of them just didn't work out.

He was miffed the Saints didn't get better picks for Payton as well but knows they are desperate with lack of picks and their cap hell which is something like 40Million OVER the cap right now. That is one thing Paton will have to reconcile with Payton is mortgaging the future cap for the present which I don't like, but was the Saints style.

Do we really need to hear from Saints fans to get an opinion on Payton? He is proven.
