Quite surprised the Lakers game vs OKC isn't being televised nationally as it might be the night Lebron breaks the record.

Since it’s a Tuesday night I would expect a lot of it to be on TNT

Showing the Wolves vs Nuggets at that time slot. Which I can kinda understand.

But at least put it on NBA tv or something.

I have league pass so it doesn't matter too much to me.

I'll be disappointed if Sleepy D (Doris Burke) is calling the Celtics game tonight.

These moments don’t happen often.

I bet Wilt would be higher on most folks GOAT list if there was any tape on his 100 point game.

So, I say…make it available to anyone who actually wants to watch.

Yep, especially if it's something that we can see coming.

Nobody knows if a player is about to break a single game record.

Something like this is historical.

I know records are meant to be broken but for a long time I thought KAJ's mark was untouchable.

This will be a big deal and should be celebrated.

The only other times I've looked forward to a Lakers game would have been when there was a chance they could be eliminated in the playoffs. Those kinda games are always fun. :heh:

@tlance ….not tagging you about individual calls.

I’m just curious about your opinion on Monty’s statement.

This sound scathing or fair?

He seems to echo a bit of both sides perspective.

But, Lack of fundamentals about sums it up…imo

Monty McCutchen attributed the missed call to “a lack of fundamentals” from the referees involved. As James drove, the baseline referee, Jacyn Goble, was in motion in an effort to gain the best angle. While Goble’s intentions were good, the end result left him in a position where he was unable to clearly see the foul. “We want our referees in a still position,” says McCutchen. “We want movement to be purposeful, meaning, ‘Oh, someone stood in front of me. I need to make a definitive step to the left one step.’ But we can’t allow ourselves to get into rapid movement at the same time that the play is coming to a head.

McCutchen says he is confident the issue that led to the missed call in Boston can be corrected and that referees will work tirelessly to be in the best position to get every call right. “It really is impactful to referees to miss calls,” says McCutchen. “They’re not flippant about it. They don’t leave with a lack of remorse. But you have to move on. You have to get to the next game. That doesn’t help the teams that were aggrieved. We understand that. But we have to continue to pursue excellent work even up against our imperfections. That way you turn one call and you sort of nip it right there instead of turning it into a progression of bad calls.

Interesting comment and a lot to unpack.

Looks clearly directed toward the fan side to me.

He obviously knows ref fundamentals like 9 million times better than me. That being said, the ref did clearly move to his left to get a better angle as LeBron was driving. Was it the ideal angle?

I don’t know. I think he got a good angle to see LeBron between the bodies that were between LeBron and the official.

The problem was that Tatum was behind LeBron. And where the official was positioned, Tatum’s arm swung down on LeBron’s almost directly in line with the ref’s viewpoint.

So it would have been very difficult for the official to see definitively if it was a hack or a clean play on the ball from his angle.

I am honestly not sure where he should have moved to get a better angle either. Just a lot of bodies on that play.

I think McCutchen has to say what he said. They are obviously going to strive to be the best they can be to make the calls as accurately as possible.

It is just so damn hard.

And I feel like people today just are completely wrong about the perception that officiating is worse today than previous generations.

It is just never been under the public eye in the microscope the way it has been recently. Social media has called way more attention to it in a very negative way.

Starting to think the same thing about the Cavs. Their pace is not sustainable in today’s game
Maybe....then again, maybe it's unfair to think 1 year into our best player's tenure here with the youngest starting lineup/core we should be expected to be on their level? Though when I look at the standings, we still are on Miami's. at least for now.

I think that hot start might have raised expectations too much. I mean, the Cs, Bucks, Philly and Miami have all had their best player and the main core together at least into their 3rd season (well, I guess only year 2 with Harden).

But is annoying to be playing worse later in the season and not better at least as far as Ws and Ls.

You aren't taking my sarcasm seriously about Spoelstra are you? Dude's the best in the game right now, or at least top 3-4

Meanwhile your guy has your team of young 'uns contending pretty well in the tougher conference. Y'all crack me up.
Yep.....that hot start got many (and I guess I can be included) fan's expectations raised.

Before the season I figured 48 and wins (maybe a tad more if healthy) and winning a round were all we should really hope for. Both still possible.

The Cavs had about 10 games exactly like this…they should be winning half of these games. Can’t win any of them. Great defense but a very inconsistent offense. Sorry but that starts and ends with the coach. They have no pace
yet 6-0 in OT.

the coach and pace was why Mitchell missed 6 shots down the stretch and Garland had yet another costly TO late?

Not like I'm a huge fan of JB but he's like most. Give him talent he can win. Don't and he wont. But if you can somehow get us 50 or even 60-year-old Larry Brown or Pop please make it happen.

Bickerstaff isn’t equal to Spolestra and I never said he WAS the problem but I watch every game you don’t. Their pace is an issue. Their halfcourt offense in close games is a trainwreck. I wouldn’t be upset if I saw change, nothing has changed in two years. I don’t give a shit if they are young team. I see young teams win close games and come up clutch all the time. They cannot perform with the game on the line. Coaching has lot to do with that. I like Bickerstaff but there is no progress.
A couple things have changed in 2 years.....went from 22 wins...to 44....to on pace for about 48.

It's true they are something like 4-7 in games decided by 3 or less but does mean we have 4 such wins.....and this does not include our 6-0 record in OT in which many we pulled away and won by more than 3.

I wonder if last night going against a veteran team and a coach with nearly 15 years experience (compared to JB about 5-6) makes a difference? Never mind they still look up at us in the standings.
