That's why they are trying to be patient with a trade, to try to work out a multi-team trade that brings back 2 players that either keep that cap space for next season or are worth keeping in lieu of that cap space.
Yep.

I totally get that.

But, it could be too late to save the season by the time the right deal materializes.

Still, you can still get a jump on next year.

Clippers we’re a borderline play in team with Kawhi out for the year and George missing more than half the Season.

Everyone thought the Clippers would be sellers.

But, they managed to turn the corpse of Eric Bledsoe, an athletic rookie and Winslow into Covington and Powell.

Teams will start cost cutting at the deadline.

It is inevitable.

You just have to have the constitution to endure the losing.

I know it’s a players league and all, but a team should have recourse for dealing with stuff like this. Superstars are still employees.
Agree.

But, Devils advocate…

Wall actually wanted to play.

Rox said…nah.

Door has to swing both ways.

……not sure if I’m misremembering…

But, Wall might have wanted to start.

They said no.

Not only will you not start.

But, you will DNP-CD most nights.

Last night they were only a few tenths apart. Lakers 26.7%, Nuggs 26.5%. VICTORY! lol

Overall which team is the better 3 pointing shooting team? The Lakers team 3 point percentage is terrible.

Been outstanding on that end.

It really comes down to shooting.

I was listening to Fred Roggin and Rodney Peete's show this afternoon and they made a good point.

They pointed out that the defense is among the best in the league, the offensive scheme is getting them open looks and they're not turning the ball over. They just aren't hitting shots.

Imo, Ham should set a semi-flexible cap of about 25 threes per game and then let success (or lack thereof) be their guide. If they happen to be hitting 3's, then they can shoot over 25. If they aren't falling, they shoot less than 25.

I honestly think Russ stared them down and told them if he doesn’t start then he is hurt.

I don't think he stared anyone down. I think Ham told him Reaves is starting and gave Westbrook the choice of coming off the bench or his hammy flaring up.

i dunno man.

Pat Beverly played 29 minutse and had 6 points.
Reeves at least was 2 of 3 from 3pt land. He should prob. get more shots
Lonnie Walker played 30 minutes, was 6/14 for 15 points, a -27 +- and was a "bright spot".
Brown Jr. played 28 minutes.
Nunn played 19 minutes
Toscano-Anderson played 10 minutes
Jones played 12 minutes
Ryan played 9 minutes

as bad as Russ has been- I cannot imagine that he is worse than grabbing 28 minutes from those guys-- I mean- maybe he is. Its just crazy that we are here.

Your Wiz are not a bad team. Pretty solid. Not great- but certainly not bad. I mean they can bring Barton and Haichimura off the bench. A real prospect like Kispert off the bench (when he is healthy). Can bring Johhny Davis off the bench. Barton and Haichimura are legit NBA players. Kispert and Davis are def. higher ceiling guys than anyone the lakers have by a mile.

and that is just some also-ran eastern conference team that will compete for the 6-10 spots.....Id defintely take those 4 bench guys over Lakers next 4 after Davis and LeBron.

Lebron would kill for Haichimura and Barton and a kid that can shoot like Kispert.

For now?

Maybe?

But he actually has been worse because he doesn’t comprehend that he is a role player now. So a guy who can stand in the corner and do nothing would actually be an upgrade.

As for the Wizards?

Yeah, solid.

Problem is, with their build plan, a core like this is perpetually their ceiling.

Just not any realistic pathway to being better than a low end playoff team.

Guess it’s possible, maybe, doesn’t really matter I guess. My opinion comes from how Russ blamed his supposed injury off of coming off the bench. This doesn’t end well.

Freaking out? It is what it is, the roster is shit and not built to be a good shooting team long-term. You can't change the players and their abilities

Yep this roster is going nowhere. Outside of playing solid defense, there's been nothing to be happy about

Yeah, if Russ doesn't get traded, he likely gets John Wall'd until he is traded or the season ends,

The Lakers have been willing to give it a few games to see if a role can work for him and the team can be found.

Part of that includes trying to bring him off the bench. But he fakes injuries rather than actually giving it a real effort.

Basically, all he's done is show why he hasn't won a title yet and likely never will. Players far greater than Westbrook have sacrificed and/or altered their games for titles...but Russ won't...he thinks he's too good a shooter for that.

I honestly wonder how many people have actually challenged him to not shoot threes? I guarantee you in his prime even he had people challenging him to just go to the rim, which he could do at will, and see what happens. In OKC he was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted and it wasn’t the best thing for him, certainly not for the team.
