It's not a strawman. I bring that up because if he had some type of history and had been given some type of a warning I would view it differently. The 20 plus accusations does establish a pattern but without criminal charges or hearing each individual case it's hard to determine what the pattern is.
I think the suspension is fair.
So a serial rapist, should only be held responsible for his last assault.

How about serial child molesters?

Serial killers?

Mass Shooters?

Bank Robbers?

No, I'm not saying all are equal, but I know sexual assult is illegal and I've never committed it or had a previous warning.

Dang, all Brady did was let the air out of some balls and he got four games

Brady was suspended for violating the CBA when it comes to interfering in an NFL investigation.

Considering the Texans complicity in what he was doing in Houston, and Cleveland's not caring about any of that to the tune of $46 million dollars a year....
I'm thinking most of Watsons massages were through the team.

Maybe the Browns will go to
17325 Euclid Ave
Cleveland, Ohio 44112
and hire a team masseuse.

No, I'm saying maybe all other serial criminals should only be charged with their last crime if they weren't warned. At least thats the vibe I got from futballiscool

It was heard in court and deemed unworthy of trial. Again if criminal charges were at least filed I would view it differently but how can we accuse someone of being a serial criminal when charges weren't pressed?

Thanks for the answer. It was easier to ask what you were talking about instead of going back and reading multiple comments.

Yep, I don't think its over. I doubt they give him a year, probably add on 4 games and or fine him.

Goodell is going to sign off on this punishment. The difference between 6 and 10 games in this one case is not worth the fight that would happen should he try and tack on more to this punishment.

Excellent question. Watson's a creep with some serious issues. But he wasn't charged with anything.

It wasn't heard in court, the Grand Jury thought they couldn't get a conviction so they denied it. Elliott never went to court and his accuser is a confirmed liar, who should have been charged with extortion.

There's not a lot if any evidence the 24 women accusing Watson are lying.

When this first broke, I said if Watson can show just a few are lying he probably gets off (In legal terms), we already know he got off prior.

The whole "no prior" thing goes out the window when, at least, 26 women come forward. Stop using a strawman argument. Girl #1 is the 1st time, 2-26 are all incidents after the prior. The fact that people failed to find out about this disgusting behavior until after the fact is absolutely irrelevant. It absolutely points to a repeated, offending, pattern.

Like I said - I would have likely suspended him for the year. I believe at that point the statute of limitations would have run out - and the NFL can move forward knowing that none of the prior issues can continue to aggravate the process.

FWIW - I thought Ben got off too light as well, and that was like 20 years ago...considering all that has changed - at some point players need to start being held accountable for their actions. We are talking about a league where guys are suspended for years for marijuana or 1 parlay bet, and yet can beat on their wives, girlfriends, women, without fear of repercussion. Something is completely off.
I guess for the Browns lucky the person with experience in these matters with no agenda, who ruled over a hearing, heard the evidence and read the post hearing briefs disagrees with you.

The owner of the Patriots got caught soliciting "favors" during a massage. Do you think that was the only time he did that? What about every NFL who's been to a strip club. If there's no criminal charges and he compensated the women who weren't interested I just don't know what type of punishment would be justified.

It was a multi-incident scandal but it was still only one scandal. If anything else happens going forward it should threaten his season and possibily career
Kraft got a hand job from an old friend. It was consensual. Horrible thing that is.
Just as bad as 26 sexual assaults on non-consensual women?

I think the NFL will deep dive on stories pro and con on the 6 games, and decide with to do.
If its 60/40 pro on the 6, they let it got 61/39 or higher con they appeal and raise it.

FTR, I believe the con voice will be loud.

I have never gone to a massage place where happy endings are a thing, but IF I ever do, I'm more likely leaving with a SMILE.

I think it ends up with 12.

I think it ends up with a fine....not sure how much, but I think the NFL has to, at least, go for a few more games and get some of the "untouched" money to show they are serious about women.

All the people who are stating it's not worth the "fight" - there isn't a fight to be won by the NFLPA. The CBA clearly spells it out, if the arbiter leverages any punishment/suspension - the NFL can appeal, and that appeal is heard by Roger Goodell, who has the final authority to leverage additional fines/suspensions as he sees fit.

They all agreed to this CBA and signed off on it. They can kick and scream all they want, but it won't do them a damn bit of good.
