So it sounds like Harden was pulling some Ben Simmons shit.
Pretty much.

If you remember, he refused to report to camp because he wanted out.

After the Rockets let it be known they would not be swayed by unhappiness, Harden delayed his arrival to camp, instead choosing to hang out with rapper Lil Baby -- gifting his friend a Prada bag stuffed with honey buns, a $100,000 brick of cash (aka a "Honey Bun") and a Richard Mille watch worth well into six figures for Lil Baby's birthday -- while leaving Silas hanging.

But, the thing that bugs me is his last two destinations gave up a ton of assets and he asked to be traded a year later.

Look what Houston had to give up for Westbrook.

Harden insisted the Rockets get the deal done, saying he'd demand a trade if they didn't find a way to bring his childhood friend and former OKC teammate to Houston, sources said. The Rockets paid a price that was considered steep at the time -- Paul, 2024 and 2026 first-round picks, and swap rights in 2021 and 2025.

As a Philly sports fan on a national board I’m a villain before I give my first post. I just need to embrace it.
No fanbase is persecuted more than mine.

I should have PTSD by now.

Don't be so dramatic...lol

the funny thing about the clippers

I was just thinking about the 90s/early 2000s clippers and who were they wrong to NOT pay?

They paid Brand and he was the only one who was really worth it.

The big mistake was Kandi over Bibby and Pierce (I can't blame for them guys like Dirk or Carter who were never projected to go top 3), they amassed some decent talents but they also didnt' sell them at the right time either (like a Mo Taylor for example).

The Worst was Aminu over George.

Other mistake?

We gave up the pick that turned out to be pre-mental midget Kyrie in order to dump the corpse of Baron Davis.

Shaun Livingston's injury was a huge setback as well.

Yeah, i never liked the Baron Davis trade.

Idk how you don't have some protections on that pick.

If not for that pick, Kevin Durant never goes to the Dubs, so basically....everyone should blame the clippers.

It is completely in the realm of possibility that he finally gets it.

People rarely leave 15 mil on the table for the benefit of the team.

Dirk and Duncan took massive pay cuts to improve.

But, they were past their prime by then.

So, I give Harden props for that.
Lebron and Bosh took paycuts in their prime. Harden is past his prime, he isn’t the first one to do it but like you said, maybe he finally gets it. We will wait and see though

James to Philly once Harden's deal is up maybe?
ITs Cleveland or LA for LeBron.....

the only other SLIM SLIM chance I would say is the Bricks--- but I dont think they could put together a team good enough to make him think about it. Plus- no cap room- would have to sign and trade with the Lakers which I would doubt would happen.

LA 70 percent...Cavs 30 percent.

honestly.....lets see how he plays this year....maybe if he starts to regress he does go somewhere else thats just stacked.

I think Philly has most if not all their picks......not sure

but- even after Harden's deal runs....Embiid still being there- Maxey maybe developing into a solid #3....they could still be something for a while.

kinda rare for a team like that to have ammunition these days- and have a good team.

Maxey can eventually develop into a really solid #2 guy....

mmmmmm...you know how good you have to be in todays NBA to be a #2 on a team with desires of contending? multi-time all star....maybe all nba.....

I dont see him getting to that. but who knows.....can he become a top 6-8 PG? that might be asking a lot.

Holliday, Van Fleet, Trae Young, Darius Garland, Ball in the East alone......most of those guys are super young and getting better too- not that maxey isnt super young and getting better....but id take Garland, Young, Ball over him long term. Certainly take Van Fleet and Holliday now...I take Haliburton over him too right now. Cade Cunningham is listed as PG on ESPN's depthcharts. Jaden Ivy is super young and talented. Suggs is super young and talented. Kyrie is prob. better than all of them if he is sane.

thats just the East.

I lived through the process man. It’s a horrible experience for a basketball fan. The games become almost unwatchable. It’s the exact same thing. You’re drawing a silly arbitrary line. Some of us are just programmed to rah rah the big monolith and forget about the individuals involved. Apparently, in your mind set, it’s honorable for the Rockets to tell John Wall just sit down and don’t accumulate any more points rebounds or assists for a season of your career. It’s all tanking. You’ll clutch pearls over one manifestation but refuse to see the other side

It's honorable for the player, not the franchise. I lived thru a rebuild like that with the Lakers, but they weren't benching guys to guarantee losses like OKC has done. Regardless, I still enjoyed watching the young guys develop. That's one thing I have hated about the Lakers' tendency to trade away late firsts during the draft; I really want to see to have at least one developmental youngster on the roster to follow.

It's totally different for a player to not give a shit and half-ass his way thru games. I'll admit I've been biased against Harden since day one, but that makes him too easy of a target even if that wasn't the case for me. Teams have their strategies, whether I agree with them or not. A player playing like shit intentionally is not strategy; it's cheating the fans. I'd rather see some g league kid play his heart out than see Harden sleepwalk thru a game.
