The Rangers come into a weekend set with the Red Sox, fresh of taking two of three from the Royals. Game times are 7, 6, and 1:30. No starting P's have been announced, I assume because they are still evaluating Jon "Glass Cannon" Gray's injury from his last start. Dunning and Otto would be the likely hurlers in two of the games.

Thankfully, Gray is one of the few question marks on the pitching side. As far as hitting goes, there is a ton of them.

Player A: .237 AVG, .430 SLG, .732 OPS
Player B: .236 AVG, .458 SLG, .721 OPS

A is Corey Seager. B is Brad Miller. Those two should not be comparable, yet here we are. Semien got a much needed day off yesterday, and there are several more who need one as well. About the only bright spot is Heim right now.

This has been a great time for guys like Lowe Ibanez White and Solak to nail down a position on this team. I think Lowe is leading of the bunch but none have proven they are not subject to cuts. Other than C SS 2B, the remaining guys are biding time. Will be interesting to watch.

Leody Taveras didn't play the first two games of Triple A Round Rock's homestand Monday and Tuesday after being removed early from a game Sunday at Reno.

He wasn't hurt, the Rangers said, and it was a manager's decision to keep Taveras out of the lineup.

No one has said with any certainty why Taveras was down, but apparently Round Rock has a rule that all players will run out popups as if they had stolen something.

Taveras might have been running like he just popped up and was unhappy with it. If so, he probably wasn't happy with sitting two games.

Taveras returned Wednesday as Round Rock was dismantled 19-0 by Oklahoma City. He went 0-for-3, snapping a 17-game hitting streak.

Several of these guys on the team now, who are getting regular or semi-regular playing time are just placeholders until better player come along. That doesn't mean there is no place on the team for all of those placeholders once the better players come along though. Some would make great bench players, not platoon players, but true bench players.
