I think that was what Spencer Howard did this year, with very little success.

To answer your question, no I don't think we will ever see it.

Yeah, probably not lol.

Man, I hope one day we have a rotation like the Brewers had this year.

The giants and Dodgers were better by a little bit but of course that came with a lot of money and big trades. Really like the Brewers mainly home grown rotation.

The Hiroshima Carp of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball could make top outfielder Seiya Suzuki available to Major League teams via the posting system this winter, according to a report from Yahoo Japan. The Carp have begun taking some of the necessary steps, per the report, conducting a recent MRI for updated medical records and beginning to put together the requisite paperwork.

I hope we make a run at him. Even if he drops 60 points on his BA/OBP/SLG (.319/.436/.640 in Japan)
He would be a .259/.375/.580 with a .955 OPS player. Definitely all star level stats.
In saying that, I think we would all be happy with a .800 OPS or a .250/.355/.445 line, a 70 point drop in avg, 80 point drop in OBP and a 195 point drop in slugging. He could drop pretty drastically and still be a very good player.

Did anyone ever catch what was wrong with Aaron Zavala?
He had an issue with his physical and signed for way less.
Didn’t know if anyone knew what was wrong with him?
He has a grown on his spine.

Oh wow.
Thank you for answering that
Hope he will be ok.
The following is from Grant's article.

"The issue was a mass at the top of his cervical spine. The first diagnosis was that it wasn’t cancerous, but that was where the good news ended. Zavala, who turned 21 in June, was told he couldn’t play baseball again and that walking might soon become a challenge. All pretty shocking for a guy who played regularly for Oregon the last three seasons without issue." ...

"Instead of on-boarding at the Rangers’ facility in Arizona after signing, Zavala flew to Los Angeles to get further medical evaluation. It wasn’t until about two weeks after he signed that Zavala and the Rangers got significantly more promising outlooks once they turned from orthopedic spinal doctors to neurological spinal consultants."

"Essentially, the size of the growth must be monitored, but needs no other further attention at present and there is no feeling he’d be at significant risk by playing."

Man, feel bad for the guy.
Wish him all the best

Some excerpts from Levi Weaver's column about the recent hiring by the Rangers.

"After the 2018 season, Bonifay was hired by the Phillies in a role similar to the one he’ll fill in Texas. His tenure there is also not without some questions. For one, the Phillies player development program was the topic of some parting shots when Spencer Howard was traded to the Rangers at the trade deadline earlier this season."

"Beyond Howard’s comments, our own Matt Gelb wrote an article early last month about the shortcomings of the player development department in Philadelphia, featuring quotes from none other than Bryce Harper."

'“We need guys to come up from the minor leagues that can have success for us,” Harper said after the final Phillies game of the season. “That’s huge as well. When guys aren’t having success from the minor leagues into the big leagues, that hurts us. So we just need to be all-around better as a team and as an organization with our hitting plan and everything else that comes with that.”'

When teams only hire people that they have previous experience with, aren't they limiting who they can hire to their own detriment?

in the case of Alexy and Otto i would be content to see them pitch using the opener program with one pitching 3 or 3 innings and the other finishing and then reverse roles on the next scheduled day. the rest, FA, Hearn, Dunning and Allard or Latz go normal

Do the Rangers do this?

I really hope it’s just a bunch of posturing.
The players and MLB need to make damn sure they don’t have a lock out
It would be really bad for the sport.

What are the main topics they can’t come to terms with?
I know of a few things but maybe I missed a couple that are big deals that I’m not aware of?

I found this that was presented in the last meeting they had. I don't care for either of these proposals myself.

"Major League Baseball, as part of its proposal to the players’ association last month, offered to curtail the impact of service time by creating a formula to disperse $1 billion to all arbitration-eligible players and make free agency universal at 29 ¹/₂ years of age, The Post has learned. … In its proposal addressing service time, MLB was, at minimum, looking to address the union’s concern about service-time manipulation."

"What MLB proposed was to create a $1 billion pool (and to tie that pool total to revenue in future years) for all eligible players, to replace arbitration. A formula would be created to determine how much players would receive. Arbitration-eligible players received roughly $650 million for this season."

Tonight will bring a sickening feeling to my stomach. Every Game 6 always will.

I won't watch tonight, I suppose in some way because of this. I hope the Braves win, but I don't want to sit through a game played at Houston being called by Joe Buck to get there. And there's a 100% chance he will reference 2011 Game 6 tonight, because he's a dickhead.

Got to thinking about that series today. I realized that I've never seen any footage or pictures from Game 7 that year. Couldn't bear to watch the game live, woke up the next morning to check the score, and have avoided any record of it from that day on.
