I don't think White should have any impact on anything Mariners in 2022. He is Tacoma for the year unless he goes all Mr. AAA on us. I have said for many of years, too many good players is never a problem.
Good point.

I think I just have such an all in mentality this offseason that I'm willing to move just about anyone of value in the farm system who isn't either an elite prospect or someone who could conceivably be a contributor in 2022 or 2023.

One thing that I don't think either of us has brought up is the fact that I believe with Dipoto's hubris, I can't see him admitting he made a mistake rushing White up and giving him a multi-year MLB contract. Given that fact I'd actually be surprised to see him moved this offseason. Always fun to run through hypotheticals though.

I get that thinking of the deal but it is a little different in signing an injured guy or trading a backup catcher and scrub bullpen arms for an injured pitcher (obviously got France too) versus trading a guy who is a top 6 prospect in your organization
Not a rhetorical question, but would you still consider Evan White a top 6 prospect in the organization? He'll be 26 next year and in the majors has been abysmal at the plate. His defense is as advertised - if not better - but man you can't really have had much of a worse start than he has had. Perhaps I've given up on him too quickly, but he would need to hit at least 100 points higher to even justify being a starter at this point. I know he was rushed through our minor leagues and that can play a factor, but what he has shown at the major league level hasn't been promising.

I don't try and guess any Dipoto moves because he never makes sense to me...ever. For me, the worst thing we can do now is start trading top prospects to improve for the short term after spending the last 3 years doing the opposite. Keep the kids and add with free agency. If there are guys you (Mariners management) don't think are part of the future like Yanks and Rays do well, then trade them for players you have control over for at least 3 plus years. Guys like Trammell and Sheffield are two that come to mind. But if you go this route, you better be really smart at player evaluations and not sure that is a Dipoto strength. I still think we have the wrong guy running the team, but he made baseball fun in Seattle so that is all it takes to get you extended here.

but it would prob end there,................lol

then arizona ..would be king...of the lopsided...equal trade.......lol..and they would still come out in the end.......
