I think this was a good move for both teams. Ertz is no longer a good TE. He is a horrible blocker. Maybe in a better offense he can put up good numbers again, but I would guess it's short term. AZ really needs a TE this year and the price they paid was worth it for the rest of this year. Philly doesn't need him and figures they are out of the race again already. Goedert is so much better than Ertz and any time Goedert was not on the field it weakened the Philly offense. Defenses really didn't even worry about Ertz any more and after losing a step he needed an accurate QB because he is usually not open by more than half a step when the only TE on the field. Hurts just isn't able to consistently complete passes to guys like that. I thought it odd Philly played so little 2 TE sets. Their WRs suck and while Ertz isn't great he is clearly better than Reagor.

That seems wrong to let him play if they knew they were trading him. In baseball they yank a guy out of the game when they're talking to other teams.

I agree with you but given that goedert was on the Covid list and ineligible really would have left Philly without a TE. Baseball is so different than football. Football is all about matchups. If Philly entered that game without a legit TE it would have affected the entire offensive gameplan.

funny how RTK is looking at best case scenario for the eagles, when they could just as easy go the rest of the season & win just 2 games.

That would only make sense if they have been losing to bad teams but they have beat all the bad and average teams they have played.

You are missing the point of being out of it. I don't know if anyone is saying that those teams will finish with more than 9 wins. Everyone is saying that the Eagles won't win 9 games. So it doesn't matter how many games those teams win.

9 wins are very possible for the Eagles. They have probably the easiest remaining schedule in the league. Of their 11 remaining games, they only play two more against likely playoff teams the rest of the way (Chargers and the Cowboys when the Cowboys will likely be resting their starters).

Lol

Hurts isn’t an NFL QB but the eagles aren’t done? LMAO.

Do you eagles fans even hear yourselves? It’s incredible how little you guys understand the game of football.
Do YOU hear me? bc I never said the weren't done, I said they werent tanking. Big difference.

Their schedule is much easier in the second half. This franchise loves humping division titles even with a one and done playoff, so I don't believe they are tanking.

Hurts isn't an NFL QB, but he does have incredible athleticism and a knack for keeping games close (TB)/winning (Carolina) games he has no business being in. It's a shame bc he's bad at basic qb'ing but has that "it" factor that many players lack.

Fair enough.

FWIW, I’m not as down on hurts as you are. The eagles are a mess. Tough to expect a young QB to enter that mess and turn it around.

I like the kid, he seems like he puts in the work and is a gifted athlete. He misses lots of easy NFL throws often and his deep ball is simply bad.

I also don't think sirianni is as bad a playcaller as people act. Theres been sooooo many plays that "worked" but players screw them up (the pick penalties, hurts missing open receivers, goofy shit like a wr being pushed out then scoring, etc). Nevermind the fact they o-line is playing merry go round like they did last year.

Big picture....sure, winning a division and bouncing in round one is better than missing totally from a pr stance and thats what the team is hanging their hopes on now. Also, I do believe a rookie head coach like sirianni has more pride than to tank week 6 of his first season. So those also are reasons I refuse to believe they are tanking.

Koy is over the top absurd with his comments, but right now and gojng forward, ertz wasn't the best option at te bc goeddart is close enough in quality and they need to see if he is worth keeping around without the emergency parachute or ertz. If the eagles hung onto ertz at 1-5 and got nothing at the end of the season, they would get ripped so there is a fine line between unloading ertz and a full tank/blow up.

Cox's contract is another great example of how horrible Howie is at the cap. Even if he plays out his contract this year and next there is $15M in dead money after he is gone after the 22 season. Think about that. $15M in dead money for a guy whose contract expires. If they cut him or trade him now you have like $24M in dead money next year and only save a prorated portion of his $1M salary. So his $13M cap hit this year only goes down to like $12M. At least we no longer hear about Howie being a cap genius. He is the worst cap guy in the league.
Personally I think the dead money is a good thing...but, just me I guess. :noidea:

Meh, Cox's contract would be fine--if he still played at a high level. The problem is that he has dropped off. When Howie signed him to the contract in 2016, it made sense. It's the kind of deal he would have gotten anywhere.

I was told that dead money would just “disappear”

You realize those other teams are looking at their schedules, seeing the Eagles and saying the same thing?

Yes they are like when they see the Patriots on their schedule.
Try and stay focused. The whole world does not have to revolve around the Pats. Stay on azimuth.

This thread is about the Eagles, Ertz and the Philly derp fans.

I know. I was just letting you know that I understood your point by bringing up the similarity with the Patriots.

Literally no other possible meaning to what I wrote.

Sure there is… you were butt hurt by his comment so you tried to butt hurt him by brining up his team.

He’s right. This is a thread about Ertz and (not surprisingly) you’ve made it about the eagles. He was talking about the eagles so you lashed out about the patriots. Here’s the difference. You don’t see patriots fans talking about making the playoffs. You don’t see three threads on the first page talking about the patriots and how phenomenal their players are but you do about the eagles. You have ZERO objectivity which gives you ZERO credibility.

Oh… and the eagles are done this year.
