Defense gave up 20 points, 7 of them came one three yard drive after a Gibson fumble (basically counter3d by the game ending drive), and they forced two turnovers. It wasn’t a great game but hardly the worst.

Now how did AH do? He had a massive 2 catches for 10 yards. The third into a first down magnet caught one on 2nd and 13 and the other was on a second and 20 after AH put us in that position with a clipping penalty. AH May have been the second worst player on the field today behind Antonio Gibson.

I never said the defense had a bad game. That last drive was awful. They refused to cover Allen who is their best WR on 3rd downs. Giving up a 3rd and 16 is inexcusable. Fitz going down put the offense behind. TM played well. Dumb penalty by AH i agree with you but Hopkins has to hit that kick. Sherff had a huge holding call also on that drive.

We are going to play alot of close games this year. We have a RB who is prone to fumbling and a inconsistent kicker. Not a good combination. Lets hope TH can do something with this offense b/c it looks like Fitz is going to be out for a long time or the year. What a kick in the nuts on Week 1. should of had this one with the Fitz injury but we beat ourselves.

Heinicke adds a spark for whatever reason when ever he's in there. Hip injuries are never a good thing. We'll see. If he's out long term, I guess Allen is up, but I would look into Cam if Fitz gets IRd.

Leno and Cosmi are not Trent and Morgan.

Gibson flashed but was clearly gassed towards the end. Fumble probably cost us the game.

Skins really need Samuel to get back so Logan and Terry can get a little more breathing room.

D Line got dominated.

Only linebacker that showed up was Holcomb and he wasn't very good either.

BSJ was AWFUL!

Jackson III looks like an upgrade.

Curl had a great first half and Landon didn't blow any assignments from what I could tell.

Rivera should have gone for it and burning 20 seconds before punting was another September head scratcher from him.

Del Rio wasn't able to adjust the way he did last year, but other than a scripted first drive that the Chargers had eight months to prepare, I thought the defense was good enough.

Hopkins will cost us games this year.

BTW: After watching the game today I am all in on keeping the uniforms exactly the same and sticking with WFT. Maybe bring back the stripes down the middle of the helmet. Glad we play Thursday. This one hurt.

FWIW, why is BSJ covering K. Allen on key 3rd downs all game? We have to high priced Cb's in Fuller and Jackson. They should of shadowed Allen all game. Not St Juste. That's bad coaching. RR made the right call on punting. They had them at 3rd and 16!! Odds are you get of the field in that situation and get the ball back to try and win the game.

Gibson is making me real nervous. They want him to be "the guy". I just hope he can step up and be the guy.

Too much zone and they gained 17 net yards of field position by punting, when they needed like six for a fresh set of downs.

You wrote... "Fitz going down put the offense behind," and I hope that you didn't mean that because in his time on the field Fitz was 3/6 for 13 yards. His QBR was 56.3. They had zero chance with Fitz and about a 20% chance with Heinicke. The difference being TH's mobility between the two.

Fitz was done when he signed here, Allen and Hieney aren't much either. I've been saying it all off-season... This team is a QB away and they don't have one!

You were almost correct back when you said that Fitz will never take a regular season snap for us.

No…you didn’t bad mouth the defense. Everybody else did But I was just needling you about AH and his garbage.

I am not sure what a FG earlier in the game has to do with the AH penalty. The penalty took a drive we needed to score a TD on and gave us 2nd and 20 at our 47 when we were on their 38 with a 2nd and 5.

I don’t think anybody disagrees with Hopkins should make FGs. 51 is a long FG…the problem is we were kicking FGs.

I think you are over reacting a little. When your starter QB goes down the playbook shrinks b/c you didn't prepare for the QB to play. 20% chance? Where did you get that number? If Gibson didn't fumble, the defense gets off thefield on 3rd and 16, and Hopkins makes the FG we had a great chance to win this game.

The AH penalty was a drive kicker setting up a long FG.

Herbert and the big wrs were the story of the game, in addition to the chargers revamped oline pretty much handling our d line.

Herbert looks like the real deal. Congratulations to the chargers for that.

Positives:
Jackson is good
Heine can move the team down the field
Thomas is good
Gibson looked good when not fumbling

Also of note:
Cosmi held his own against Bosa. Wasnt awesome, wasnt terrible.
St Juste got abused by a team that looked to take advantage of the rookie. That is what they’re supposed to do. Presumably, he’ll get better.
The run defense looked good.

You can't fault the D for the 7 following Gibson's fumble. Herbert passed all over them but I think a lot of people are going to do that. I would say the D got lucky on the "touchback fumble." Bad call.

The thing I heard that bothered me most was that the coaching staff was trying to fit Fitz into Turner's offense instead of trying to work offense around him. Shades of Jay Gruden. The protection from the Oline was disappointing. We will have to wait and see if that was a one game thing or not. They might be better with TH back there based on his ability to escape. I'd love to see Heinicke excel but I don't expect it.

The team should be 1-1 after Thursday's game. Except for QB I do not think we are in "the sky is falling" .... yet.

Hump outperformed Brown. Neither was anything to write home about.
