I would probably agree with that.

Although Thybulle has been just incredible. Like Hall of Fame good defense. His lack of offensive abilities limits his PT but I've watched him change the entire approach other teams have.

Yeah he is awesome too.

I do think you need starters minutes to be an all defense team player, but he is right there too.

Seems a bit dramatic by the "source". It's only year 3 and it's been a couple of weird years. Plus, the Cavs haven't had the lottery luck they've had in the past.

I haven't paid close attention to them, but the only thing I can think of that I would call a real "mistake" is not trading Kevin Love. Still not sure why they kept him.

Cool...some current members with names say it's not.

All seriousness some of the things these nameless people complain about is comical. Former and current players actually complained because the Cavaliers paid Drummond nearly his entire salary and let him choose where he played? Oh, the horror.

Not nameless, but many gave them shit because they traded KPJ when any team could have had him for an unprotected 2nd rounder....but none would even offer that much.

agree, though not sure if you are talking before or after resigning him. Never mind we don't know what, if anything, was offered.

Most comical, as mentioned, are former or current players for ripping them for "how they handled" Drummond. Yeah...they got together with Drummond AND his agent and decided on the course of action. Then they agreed to buy him out at nearly his full salary and let him play where he wants. Better if they shipped him to Minnesota for a couple 2nd rounders (yeah, I get not possible because of cap)?

I don't recall the circumstances around re-signing him. Maybe they re-signed him for more than they should have, but if memory serves, it was similar to Tristan Thompson in that they wouldn't have the cap space to replace him with anyone better. I don't know if they tried to trade him or not, but they should have, imo.

I thought they did Drummond a solid. He got to go to a team with a chance to win a title when they could have just kept on the bench. Instead, they cleared the way for him to go to a contender.

its true to a certain extent.

They dont know if they want to keep Koby Altman. Its why they put off his press conference for 2 weeks after the season.

I am 60/40 on keeping Altman. I think he could have done better- and his first Irving trade was not great- but he was the youngest GM in the league.

I give the Cavs credit for being one of the few teams in the league that has an African American as a GM and to give him a chance. and I think condiering where they drafted and the strength of the drafts- that getting Sexton at 8, Garland and Okoro at 5- that he has drafted pretty well. The Allen trade was well done.

but is he the guy that can take this from a collection of young guys into an actual contender. I am not so sure.

This draft will be interesting for them bc there are so many great guards. Not a great franchise and Altman was a gamble? But what did everyone expect after Kyrie forced his way out and Lebron left…lets just hope they don’t go into a long-term rebuild like a lot of franchises.

Um....they are in a very long term rebuild right now. And unfortunately it's never going to work. Never ever ever.

Exactly. Has he made a couple of mistakes? Sure. But, as you point out, he's young. Also, I can't think of any egregious mistakes. I don't think there have been any..."What the hell was he thinking?" moments.

I don't think any of his draft picks have been a "reach". Seems like they were drafted right around where they were projected.

He hasn't really done anything that would show that he's the guy who can take them to contending status...but he certainly hasn't done anything to show he isn't either.

He could really make himself look good if he can figure out a way to get Love off the books.

right--- after years of "winning now"- and the market- it was always going to be a long rebuild

even if they get a top 3 pick they still need a couple years for the guys to develop and sort everything out.

the base is getting there though. I just dont want to be the Kings were you are wallowing or Twolves- where you are wallowing in shit forever.

Honestly- if they get #2 or #3- id trade Sexton.

draft Suggs- and have him and Garland in the back court and Okoro at the 3 and go from there. Thats a nice base. But who knows- we shall see.

If they get #1- obviously take Cunningham and he plays on the wing and you are in good shape. If you get #2 id take Suggs and move Sexton if you can get something thats intriguing.

not only that- but at the end of the day- who the fuck really knows what Altman did and did not do? Anything might be Gilbert or nothing might be Gilbert. Its impossible to tell. We KNOW that the Irving trade was largely Gilbert.

have you guys seen how rich Gilbert is now that Quicken went public? Hes like 40 billion rich. Like outside of Ballmer he is probably the richest owner in the entire NBA. Kinda crazy.

its funny that as much as we talk about how a guy like LeBron has amassed so much wealth- he isnt a drop in the bucket compared to a guy like Ballmer or Gilbert.

I think it was Shaq who explained the difference being being rich and being wealthy.

He said something along the lines of NBA players are rich...the people who sign NBA players checks are wealthy. lol
