Duke Johnson............ maybe

Trey Burton.................. NO

Trai Turner.................... Maybe, if they trade Vaitai to Denver or any team and pay 1/3 of his 2021 base because it'd be worth it to see him gone

Melvin Ingram............. NO

Brian Poole................... Maybe, Injured his knee last year

Nickell Roby-Coleman............ Maybe, Robey-Coleman had a difficult year in Philadelphia last season, but the three years prior, he registered PFF grades of 74.5, 79.8, and 80.5 playing under Aubrey Pleasant (Lions defensive backs coach) on the Rams roster.

D. J. Hayden................. An easy NO

Malik Hooker............... Maybe, Young but Always injured. Hooker has never played an entire NFL season (missing 14 games in 2020, three in 2019, two in 2018, and nine in 2017)

Tre Boston..................... Maybe, Boston’s best year as a professional was in 2017 while playing as a free safety for Lynn in LA. His PFF grade that season was 80.6, and he’s only had one season below 73.9—last season in Carolina, where he received a 53.8 grade from PFF playing in a strong safety role

Kenny Vaccaro............. Emphatic NO, he's always been questionable as a coverage safety and the poor angles and missed tackles and, and, and

Taivai is a no brainer. should've released him yesterday or the day before the day before

Hand is a questionable as Brockers, N. Williams, Onwuzurike, McNeil all could make him a possible waiver release or limited action. Injuries

Penisini seems an odd choice because if McNeil gets injured then what. Atkins is the probable guy out

Crosby being limited is a definite but long term being on the team is highly doubtful

Stenberg didn't get a sniff of a rep on the O-Line last year even with all the injuries. He's not Holmes pick and Fraley is back as OL Coach so, he either steps up and learns to be even decent at pass-pro - blocking in general - or he's probably gone

In his interview this week on Sirius XM NFL Radio’s “Moving the Chains” program, Campbell laid out the Lions vision for what they wanted in players.

“We felt like it was important to really, really identify these guys that we felt like can change or create a culture around here that embodies who we are and what we’re about.”

Campbell continued with some clarity,

“Find football players that really believe in the way we believe and are cut from the same cloth. We felt that was important. We really wanted to focus on football players that have talent, not talented athletes that maybe can develop into football players. We wanted to kind of stay away from that.”

1. Detroit got big and nasty upfront on both sides of the ball

2. Lions trust Jared Goff

3. Versatility was a key component to this draft

4. Detroit's offensive line has a chance to be really good

5. We saw the passionate side of Holmes

Less than 24 hours after it was reported that tight end Josh Hill would be retiring, the Detroit Lions flew in Darren Fells for a visit and per Dave Birkett of the Free Press, they have signed him to a new contract. Fells, who spent 2017 with the Lions, should immediately settle into a TE2 role in 2021.
This sucks. KJ gone and now all we have is 1 TE. We need to grab another RB+TE for sure. None of those guys should be playing in the NFL.

I would take Duke and either Hooker or Boston. Thats it though.

Fells can do what Hill would have.

I would rather have Jamal Williams then KJ. I don't think the Lions need a RB at all right now.

Tavai should have been released right after Derrick Barnes name was called. They should have had Goodell announce it at the podium.

KJ Wright

Sheldon Richardson

The Golden Tate

Malik Hooker
Richardson would probably spell the end for a lot of guys. It would be expensive but we could cut most of the other guys who are on the bubble. I would be happy to see Nick Williams leave.

They both suck. Even Hock is just a 1 dimensional TE. A good one but there is no doubt what he is doing on most plays.

As far as RB we are down to 2. JW was a critical piece but you cant get by with just 2 decent RBs these days. Duke Johnson would make a great compliment to both our RBs.

The only part of KJ being released I dislike is that he is one helluva blocker in pass-pro. Outside of that one very good trait, I'm not too concerned.

RB are dime a dozen but having one that can efficiently pass-block AND be dynamic as a runner is a little more difficult to come by.

Patience here is required as we'll see some more being released as the off-season progresses

Richardson's best position is as a 3-tech so, it'll depend on how often they'll be utilizing a 3-tech. I would think they're looking at more versatility for the price he'll come in at.

I could easily see Hand, Brockers, Onwuzurike, Williams and McNeil with one of these playing at either a 4i and another at 5-tech with say Flowers, Onwuzurike, Strong at 3-tech with outside edge rushers (slide a name in there - Okwara - Okwara - Harris - Flowers - Barnes - Bryant).

So many possibilities

The Old School TE - Charlie Sanders type - is long gone but I do agree with you on your statement of 1-dimensional TE.

JW is "My Favorite off-season FA add" and it ain't even close. I'm expecting big play coming from him this upcoming season.
